Bad Management

I've lived here for about two years and have had numerous concerns about towing, security, gate issues, break-ins, and loud neighbors.
The towing seemed to begin out of nowhere. Multiple cars have been towed from areas that are not marked as tow away zones. Parking is a big problem around several buildings and people park on curbs not marked as tow away zones. Parking on the curbs is generally not a problem as there is enough room for two cars to still get around at the same time. There are curbs that are marked as tow away zones that people do not park on. Not a problem. My car got towed from in front of my apartment on the curb at about 2:30am when no other parking was available. I have to pay $150 to get my car out of impound the next morning. I talked to the management about parking policy and they got irritated and actually yelled at me, telling me I should know better. I have no problem with parking in designated or unmarked areas, but after regularly parking there for almost two years, I would expect at least some kind of notice from management informing me of the new policy. I later talked to several residents that also got towed and they had about the same results after talking to management. I was also informed that a couple residents that socialize with the management actually had the towing fee reimbursed by Archstone. When I asked about it they again became irate. I later talked to a lawyer friend and he informed me that according to state law section 5 http://www.flsenate.gov/statutes/index.cfm'mode=View Statutes&SubMenu=1&App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=& that what they did was illegal. It didn?t seem to matter to management when I presented this to them. I again received the same treatment. Enough on that.
As far as security, we?ve had several car thefts and break-ins that would have been prevented if our gates actually worked. One of the selling points was that this was a gated community. The gates rarely worked and this led to people cruising our community that obviously didn?t belong there. Also, it was brought to my attention that there was/is a break in our fence that leads to another neighborhood and people routinely pass through and hang out at the pool. They would also get on our roof somehow and damage the gutters. There were several problems with our water meters also located on the roof. Our water bill would go from around $50-$75 to $200. Numerous residents brought this issue up and sited that they saw kids playing on the roof. We wanted to get reimbursed for high water bills directly related to faulty water meters damaged by kids. On several occasions kids would actually ride a dirt bike and a go-cart through the fence and make laps around the community. They damaged a few cars in the process. This didn?t cause any concern with the management.
I could go on and site other problems but these seemed like the main issues, other than the normal loud cars, parties, and lack of interest in our issues by management.
I just moved out.
