After 3 years of poor quality site maintenance...

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
Been here 3 years. Gates never work, well, to be truthful, did work for 1 whole day out of my last lease. Trash piles up about once every week or two to a depth of about 6 feet by the compactor. The sprinkler system makes nice fountains all around the property. They often spray across the walkways instead of onto the grass. The lights in the hallways/walkways are hit or miss and I've been told by yet another new maintenance man that the damages have been ignored so long the breakers have to be replaced due to neglect. I have a lovely view of the neighboring low cost rental apartments. The gaping holes in the fences allow the gangs of kids to roam freely around the complexes doing random minor vandalism and such, like the first day I had my new car and some kids threw some corrosive powder substance on all the cars in the area. There is no security person of any nature on site. The staff are apathetic at best. Took me 4 work orders and 2 years to get the bathroom floor fixed. They just glued 1'x1' linoleum tiles down on top of the existing one piece linoleum flooring. The tiles would twist and slide as you used the restroom. The balcony, I'm on a third floor, gathers water and it doesn't drain out as the buildings have settled inward. It was leaking down into the apartment below and they came over a year ago to look at it. Still no action has been taken. The grounds themselves, except by the entrance, show neglect and poor maintenance. Bushes aren't trimmed, gaps in bush rows, debris in bushes, tree branches slapping you in the face as you get out of your car in the parking spots, play ground and basketball court in poor shape although the playground does retain water well after a rain. The weight room has a few machines, never seen all of them operational.
With all this, I just got my renewal notice, they wish to raise my rent from $665 a month to $776 a month for a one bedroom. I told them they can add yet another vacancy to the group of vacant apartments in my building. They say $740 is going rate. I say BS. Then, I look online, I can move in at $635 a month or $675 a month for a one bedroom based on floorplan.
I could not recommend this facility to someone and be able to sleep at night. The staff is always new except for Kim, who I must say has always been pleasant and helpful. The rates they want for the total lack of caring and maintenance are outrageous. You can easily find more economic rents at easily the same quality with far better service.
And now, I will be moving even though I HATE to move as this is no longer a tenable situation. Renters be warned, check things out first.
