Silent Long Enough

I too lived at the wonderful San Marin. In fact I lived there years ago when it actually was a nice community and called Del Lago. I am happy to say that I've managed to escape. Yes I currently pay more but guess what... my children can go to a park and play and they can swim in the pool and if I want to go to my car at night I don't have to worry about the swat team or spot lights from helicopters shining down. My daughter was often approached regarding drugs and sex and was afraid to even come home after school alone. I spoke to the few people that were polite and in the same situation but most were either spouse abusors or druggies that banged on my door at all hours of the night.
As for the apartment itself... OMG! It had chipped paint, matted carpet, both showers leaked into the livingroom, the dishwasher and disposal were broken and the outlets were out. There were broken windows with no screens, poor ventilation in the laundry/bath room and roaches inside and out. When we moved I ended up tossing my furnature for fear of bringing the little critters with me. There was mold, broken tiles, hanging cabinets and brown toilets that did not come clean. And the outside of the building wasn't much better. The stairs were old, rusted and the rails were broken. My children and I slipped regualarly as they were cement lined with rusted metal. There was poor lighting in the parking lot, never enough parking, my vehicle was hit on more than one occassion and someone even stole my baby stroller from my trunk when I ran up to my apartment with groceries. It was a health hazard that I would prefer to forget. We were there several years and had trouble getting out as the office would not forward our rental information without prior notice and then it was inacurate causing us to lose our first choice.
We were there long enough to witness arrests, shootings, drug deals/busts and management changes. I'm really shocked that there weren't more electrical fires as my waterheater and washer was forever blowing a fuse. It was just an unsafe place and when I pass it now I know that I've made the right decission. If you are considering moving in and you are single then go for it as the price is right but with a family.... forget it!

You lived here before, so what do you know? You only know what was going on before. I live here now and love it, the staff is great, maintenence is great, kids are great and respectful. They are remodeling and thats great so whatever you saw you did nothing to help. I think if you live somewhere and can't get items fixed then put your rent with the courts, document everything, take pictures like I did and make sure things get fixed. If they don't pay the rent to the courts and ask the judge, he/she will make things right. I know, I took my old complex to court and they are in big trouble with the city and courts. They have to take classes and do all kinds of repairs for the handicapped they ignored in the old place. OH and by the way, this place was built in the 1970s so yes it is old fashioned but very nice townhouses in my opinion for the money. I love it.

You sound like another drama queen. Your daughter approached several times about sex and drugs? Did you call the police? Probably not since I'd bet a month's pay that your post is 95% pure BS.
