Worst Place I Ever Lived!

I had the misfortune of living in the San Marin Apartments for a year. Let me start out by saying first that, although usually friendly, with the exception of one women, the people who worked in the office were the most unhelpful people I have ever tried to deal with. Every time I went into the office with a problem or complaint, I was told that a problem report would be written out, and some one would get back to me. No one ever got back to me. I would either have to go to the office several times, which usually still didn't help, or hunt down a maintenance person myself for assistance. And even though the maintence staff were all very nice, and would offer assistance, their skills at fixing things were rather half-assed, and for the most part they didn't completely know what they were doing.
Now, I can give you a list of the numerous things wrong with my apartment:
1. The place was completely INFESTED with roaches and fleas. No pest control was ever done, even though I received notices that it was supposed to be done. I had to throw out boxes of dried food goods, because the roaches got into them. My kitchen was crawling with them constantly. When I finally moved, I had to throw out my microwave, because the roaches had made a nest inside of it, and I could see them in the slot with the digital numbers, and crawling out from underneath. I even bug bombed the apartment myself several times, and they came back after several days each time. My cat, who is an indoor cat, had such a flea problem, it caused him to have tape worms, and I am a responsible pet owner! Despite the large amount of money I spent on flea provention products (sprays, bathes, bombs, and Frontline), I was still only barely able get the fleas under control.
2. I had a 1.5 bath. Both of my sinks, as well as the tub were rusting out by the drains. The 'cold' handle broke off in my hand from the second sink, and I was told that it couldn't be fixed. And then, maybe from lack of use' small, flying ant type bugs began to come out of the drain, periodically.
3. Every time I ran the airconditioning ( which was a contraption in the closest with a rusting pan full of water, held together by duct tape, and mold) there was the most terrible musty smell that came from the vents that filled my apartment. As long as I only kept it on low, it was bearable.
4. Every time the tenant upstairs ran her dishwasher or garbage disposal, it all bubbled up into my kitchen sink.
5. My kitchen sink would periodically fill with black smelling water, and on several occations over flowed all over the kitchen.(and this was a seperate, although I'm sure related, issue from the upstairs tentants dishwasher.)At one point, the black water rose and drained in the sink, by itself, for about an hour.
6. The dishwasher was broken, none of the cabnets would close, the shelves in the frig were broken, the locks on all but one window and the patio were broken( and that window wouldnt open at all), the screen on the patio was broken, the front door jammed, so I had to throw my body into it to open it....I could keep going.
7. I felt unsafe walking around at night ( and was followed by a drunk guy once), and would receive rude comments while trying to sit by the pool.
8. The noise level, especially on the weekends,( when everyone that had a patio facing the parkinglot would back their vehicles up to the patio, and blast their car stereos) was very unpleasant. Lots of yelling, screaming, and loud music.
9. The large trash dumpster in the parking lot was set on fire several times.
I'm sure that I could say more, but all in all you get the idea: It's a very unpleasant place to live, and even with the new mulch and the dog poop stations, it definately is not worth the rent they are charging.

Wow, the dumpsters are still being set on fire? They were set on fire five times when we lived there. The firemen told me it was usually from people grilling and throwing the live coals into the dumpster. And you know, with all the matresses and junk they let pile up around the dumpsters, one day that whole place is going to burn down. Also, be prepared for the insane crack fiend to come over to this review and dismiss all you've said as 'crazy talk'. She seems to think that anyone who doesn't like San Marin is a dirty trash person. Pfft. I get notifications of this place to warn people away from it.

Well this so called crack fiend and her husband found out who was setting the dumpster on fire and he is in jail now thanks. I still want you or anyone to come to my apartment and tell me if you see any bugs or fleas, we have a dog and cats. I don't have bugs and the bug man comes when I tell them to send him. I do not have any issues with maintenance people because my stuff seems to be fixed right away. Must be the fact that I am so nice to everyone. There have been so many people kicked out of this place. I am so glad. We watch and do security at night here, this is something we have done for years. If you see something going on tell us and we will be sure it is taken care of right away. Come to apt 285 and talk to Mike or Maxine and we will take care of any problem you have at night here. Drugs? If you see it tell us so we can take care of it. Noise after 10 pm, let us know. Problems with your apartment deal with with the office staff nicely and it will get done. People who move and then write bad stuff usually have some kind of problem like sindtoangles who can't seem to let it go. If you have moved out you don't have a clue about what is going on here. Some people don't work here like they used to, people have been kicked out because they cause problems. Things are getting better. The new area at the pool which we watch for trouble and take care of every night is great. New pool furniture. Cars being towed for parking where they shouldn't by the towing company that is through here almost every night. CIS security is in here every night too now. I guess I have lost my mind and don't have a clue right? Ok so say what you will but if you had shown me your apartment I would have called the office myself about all this. I have a nice apartment so if you don't it would be your own fault not ours. You want to live that way then you own it. I won't. Everything isn't perfect in any apartments because there are always the bad ones that slip thru but I tell you what, I have plans to make sure that those who start problems move out and evicted as quickly as we can get them out. I work very close with the office and I don't want anything to go on down here. I will help and anyone else who lives here and wants to help, come on over and visit me. We can make this a nice place to live. Just don't let people here who don't belong here. If you have neighbor problems tell the office. Any other problems don't complain after you move, turn your rent over to the courts and make sure you have what you want fixed in writing, copies. Then your problems will be solved.

Well I agree with singtoangels and the person who posted this remark. I had all kinds of insect problems the whole time I was there, no noise problems after 10pm???? You must be smoking crack that is one of the reasons I left, I was not kicked out! And as far as maintenance it ALWAYS took more than a week to come fix the problem, didn't fix it well, and never came prepared!!!! always asking me for tools and things. New pool furniture and clean??? You must work there because I JUST left 2 months ago and there is maybe 5 chairs that are falling apart and the water so green you can see it a mile away!!! Get over yourself the place is a dump, ghetto, fights always breaking out and property looks like ----!

Singtoangels is nothing but a drama queen LOSER. The so-called 'crack fiend' is a figment of her imagination which she has plenty of time to play with since she's nothing but doughnut-eating, Oprah-watching pig.
