I dont recommend this place to anyone. I have yet to see another native english speaking person. There are always groups of guys hanging out in the parking lot and outside their apt entrances, as a single white female this does not make me feel safe, except to get the mail or laundry, I dont leave my apartment. and the apartment they showed during the tour was nothing like the apt we got. it reminds me of a cave, a dark dingy cave, with no natural light. One of the tings we asked about when touring was if there was an exterminator, or some method of cleaning and preventing bugs from coming, if there were any from the previous tenant, well, a few days after moving in, we start seeing bugs. with all the clauses in the lease that dont allow you to break it ( my favorite part is Release of resident - stating that you wont be released from the lease for any reason, inclusing school withdrawl, job transfer, marriage, seperation, divorce, reconciliation, loss of co-residents,loss of employment, bad health or death. yes, death. you die they still want their rent.) We will now be counting down the next year as a prison sentance, and cant wait to get out of here.

I do understand your frustration with the bugs you have and I still do not have any, however, attacking me personally was very immature. I am and many of the people here speak english. I have friends here who are american and my entire family is american? I don't know where you are in the complex but mine is again too light sometimes that we can't see our television so I guess it's like any complex, ask to change to another apartment that may help the problem with how dark it is. We have pest control, and here again the answer is a product I own that I have owned for years. it is called Pest Defence, it plugs into the wall and uses something that keeps them out. I have had this thing for more years than I can tell you and has paid for itself over and over again. Please call the office and let them spray for bugs, it is apartments after all and if you see some of these after people move out as we have you would understand how nasty some people really are. The apartments are distroyed. The woman who just moved out damaged the front wall with her uhaul then her and her friends put holes in all the walls and dumped something all over the floors. I just don't understand why someone who signs a lease would complain after they sign the lease about how to break it? I didn't pay some $99.00 special to move in, I don't have good credit and had to pay out the butt to move in and I am willing to do whatever I must to have a nice place to live, including calling CIS security when I see things I don't like, like people lurking around the complex, their number is 813-221-1911, this is the best security company I have ever seen in a complex and I am sure they are paid very well. They contact the sheriff if need be and they come very fast for them.
Every apartment complex has issues and only with the help from good tenants will it ever improve.
Tenants who care, who are not dirty, who do not do drugs and do not damage the property. People who feel like this is their home and want to treat the area around their apartment like it's their home not just hide behind the walls and door. Come out and walk around. Meet the neighbors like we do. We try to know everyone who lives around us. I am so unhappy for you. If you would like to meet us come to # 285 building 19 and we are more than happy to introduce ourselves to you or anyone else in the complex who cares or needs help. The office staff is great and maintenace is great too. Really they are trying their very best for you. They have yet to fail me.
Why do people personally attack my family on this site? We do our very best to tell the truth about how we live and what we do here for others to make this a nice place. I have told people where I live. I have been honest and open with all here more than I should be but you are not being fair if you are anonymous and those who do this could be anyone. I hate to see people who don't live here anymore give bad info about a place that is trying very hard to fix it up. How they feel about this place is a shame. They prevent good people who care from moving in. When ever you talk about what a bad place this is it just leads to bad types moving in next door to you.

I'm not sure where the above poster got the idea that they were attacked personally: the original post didnt name anyone, nor did it even IMPLY anyone. Why mschleisner seems to equate criticisim of San Marin with criticism of them personally is somehting only he or she can explain.
Let's be honest here--San Marin is hardly the Ritz. Our apartment is moldy, in poor repair, and is indeed a cave of darkness. The only light fixtures that came with the place are in the kitchen and bathroom. We have to stumble around in the dark until we find a lamp.
One window opens uselessly--not to the outside, but to the balcony at the side. A balcony that we cannot use, mind you, because the screens to keep the bugs out are torn to shreds and despite my complaint about it when I moved in here, was told "All of the screens will be redone in the future."
The future? A year from now, twenty years from now? Please be more specific.
Another window opens uselessly into a dark alcove with a view of the stairway. How picturesque.
So we live in a dark airless environment. It's been doing my allergies a world of good, let me tell you.
As a bonus, the apartment is poorly designed: the wall/fireplace in the one end of the living room is useless--removing it and making an open kitchen/living room area would have gone a long way to make better use of the space.
We were told the place had been treated for bugs--yet we live with roaches and flying nats. There's a huge hole in the wall under the sink where I guess plumbing work had been done at some point that was never repaired. They might as well have put up a big neon sign that said "Roaches enter HERE, leave your bags at the door".
I ordered pizza a week or so ago--heh, nevermind that when ordering the food the drivers cant find your apartment with buildings not having an obvious, visable number designating the building, thats a minor annoyance. What amused me, in a dark way, was that the driver told me he was nervous delivering here with the rough looking types who seem to loiter around the parking lot at all hours of the day and night.
You know, I may be a simple country boy from a small town where people never had to lock their doors, but even *I* know there's not one honest reason for ganer-banger looking guys to be standing around in the parking lot in deep conference late into the night. Seeing the police exit the apartment where I see most of this activity going on in FULL BULLETPROOF ARMOR a cpl of weeks ago didnt exactly ease my mind about my neighbors either.
Apparently the police didnt do much--the apartment in question is still the focus of not exactly legitimate activity.
So...please pardon us if we want to keep quietly to ourselves and count the days until our lease is over and we can move onto better, cleaner, and safer dwellings.
