I've lived in St.Croix since 2003 and I am planning on signing my third lease in March 2005. For the price this place is great, it's very affordable and in a great location!! Yeah, the security gate hardly ever works but it has improved recently and I love the remote controls we have to open the gate. (Way better than the cards!) The pools and hottubs are always clean, I love the BBQ area, and the pet walk. (I wish they had sidewalks that went through the complex because alot of people walk around and the kids are forced to ride their scooters and bikes in the street which is not safe! It would also be better if they had a playground!)It's true that you can hear your neighbors in the bathroom when you're in your bathroom, and the seals to the front doors do need to be repaired (Sometimes I can see the sunlight filtering through the door, but I'm sure if I called maitnance they would promptly come repair the seal.) But I feel safe when I come home and the grounds are kept clean and well manicured. I love the screened in porches, they're huge!!And anytime I need a repair or need pest control they always arrive in a timely manner. The office did use to be alot better, but they are not that bad, I've had a couple problems with them trying to tell me my rent was $50 dollars hirgher but that's been corrected. Regarding the trash "benches" (they are trash bins designed to look like benches, very cute!), I love how when you put the trash in them the trash is then hidden and practicly odorless (They are very efficeint on picking up the trash, it's great not having to drive or walk to the dumpster, and it only cost $5 a month!!)but one night my husband came home to family of angry racoons. One of their "friends" was locked in our trash bin and the other racoons were trying to find a way to get it out. My poor husband could not get in the house because they were in front of our door and very angry. He called maitnance but they said they wouldn't do anything until the morning!! He waited hours until they left (BREIFLY!!) to get into the apartment, it was horrilbe and very frustrating that maintance wouldn't help. Also, the water bills are extroidanarily high, around $50 per month! So there are definantly up's and downs with this place but again the price is affordable, the gruonds are attractive, I find the neighbors very friendly, and the ammenties are very good. If you have a tight budget and want to live comfortably then I would recommend St.Croix!

I don't know what the deal is with your water bill, mine is normally around $20 at St Croix. It has nothing to do with the apt. complex, you must use a lot of water...
