Lured in by size, forced out by condos

I originally came here because of the size of the apartments. Most apartments in Tampa remind you of a shoebox. Since I live in a townhouse I haven't had the problem of noise from neighbors too much. The size of the apt. is comfortable for family living, but the rest of the place leaves a lot to be desired. The grounds are very basic. No scenery. The 3 pools are constantly closed due to someone's child using it as a bathroom and unfortunately the obvious kind. The kids around here make you wanto call child services most of the time, because they are completely unsupervised. I'm glad I own a washer/dryer, because I would not want to use the facilities here. There are constant notices about what you can/can not have on your porch such as barbeques and windchimes, yet you can't get maintenance to come over and fix anything when they are clearly with too much free time to pull up their golf carts and chit chat to one another. The garbages are usually over flowing and most of them are in parking lots with patios facing them. My air conditioner was literally molded out of paper mache and the filter sits in a pool of water! But I have been told many times that is how they all look!! The tub constantly leaks through the ceiling, but we were brilliantly told to put a towel down and it should be fine. The first time we called she said "oh over the dining room. A lot of them do that". We gave up on having closet lighting. The switch made nothing happen and neither did the maintenance guy. The roaches around here are appalling and even with a request for pest control you have to wait a few weeks for them to come by and feed them, cuz they are not killing them. We never got our carpet cleaned when we resigned our lease, but we did get a notice that it was all going condo and that we would no longer matter. Since then I feel like I live in a prison. My water gets shut off all the time because of construction. You have to plan laundry, showers, teeth brushing, etc. around the fact that you will probably have no water from 9-5 M-F. When they painted the buildings a whimscal pastel color to show you are in Florida we received no notice and found all are windchimes to be in a pretty matching shade. Apparantly they want to make sure it's extra dry because I am still waiting for the apt numbers to be put back up. Not that it matters because anyone trying to find us knows they have to put their car at risk - and eventually someone's pet or god forbid child - while coming around the wonderfully designed corner that is a sharp turn around the end of a building that you can't see around and can barely fit a car through. Anyone who has been here knows the corner. Although the mirrors are a nice added touch that if you don't get side swiped, you will get blinded by the Florida sun beaming off your car. Ever since they started landscaping we all have nice waterfront property, but that was true during hurricane season too. A great security feature would be a central mailbox area. This is one of the few apts. that delivers to your door and considering some of the people that linger around here I am always surprised that my mail doesn't get stolen. I know there have been a few incidences of car theft. As I sit here bundled up in my sweater I wondor if I will get icicles from the many cracks in the ceiling that water from the tub leaks through in my townhouse that was clearly never insulated. In summary at least I only rented, some poor schmuck is going to pay in the $100,000 to buy a paper mache, waterfront, numberless apartment with permanent Florida reidents.

I too, lived here. They lied right to your face about the condo deal. They lied for months to everyone that lived here instead of just telling residents the truth, and letting them find some where else to go. I hope that Marie and Maritza can sleep at night. They can certainly look you in the eye and lie. And as for those "condo's", sure I would buy one. The cieling is falling in most of them, In the unit I lived in, you could go into the closet and look at the ground beneath the building. No kidding. The wall did not meet the floor. They just carpeted over it. Yes, some poor schmuck will buy these.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CANDOR. AS A HOME OWNER OF 23 YEARS, I MOVED INTO AN APARTMENT AROUND THE CORNER FROM YOU AND WAS FLOORED AT THE CONDITION OF THE "MOVE IN READY" PLACE AND THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TOOK TO GET ACTION ON LEAKS, WHICH WERE CLEARLY AND ADAMENTLY POINTED OUT TO ME UPON SIGNING THE LEASE AS A SERIOUS MATTER THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO TAKE CARE OF ASAP, YET FOR SIX WEEKS I COULD GET NO ONE TO LISTEN TO ME ABOUT THE LITTLE PROBLEM OF WATER POURING INTO MY APARTMENT, SATURATING THE DRYWALL, OR THE AIR CONDITIONER FREEZING UP AND THEM TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND THE FILTH UPON MOVING IN. AND TALK ABOUT THE LYING!!! THE MANAGEMENT WILL LOOK YOU RIGHT IN THE EYE AND LIE TO YOUR FACE LIKE YOU ARE STUPID. THEY MUST ALL GO THE THE SAME MANAGEMENT SCHOOL TO LEARN THIS MANEUVER. I WAS LOOKING AT THESE "CONDOS" YOU ARE SPEAKING OF AND AM SO GLAD FOR FOLKS LIKE YOU THAT TELL IT LIKE IT IS AND CARE FOR US SCHMUCKS OUT HERE LOOKING FOR DECENT HOUSING. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.
