From the first day that I moved in I regret having signed the lease. On moving day me and my boyfriend had to wait until 10 p.m. to move in because they had forgotten to change the carpet until we were given the key in the morning and saw how filthy they were! When we moved in there was a disgusting roach infestation and I've done everything I can to kill them but it's too big of a problem and I'm an extremely clean person! There's nothing that the office or I can buy to rid myself of the bugs.
Anyways the appliances in our unit are ancient, a company that no longer even makes appliances. Maintenance is usually quick to respond to our problems and their extremely friendly. We've had problems with the electricity being shut off during the day for no apparent reason, although we pay it on time every month. The neighbors will play their loud music at all hours and hang out around the back stairs smoking and doing drugs. Not to mention the stairs are disgusting and haven't been cleaned once! Our neighbor has a dog that stays on his porch all day and urinates over everything but there's nothing that we can do, so we never put anything on the porch. It's absolutely disgusting. One of the tenants in our building had his door kicked in and everything stolen and he moved within days. We've witnessed two men fighting and watched one pull out a gun on another in broad daylight and shoot at him behind the church that is next door. The worst part about it is that we have a "security guard" who barely attends to any complaints or manages to do anything at all.
We haven't had any problems with our rent but the management is incompetent. They authorized the towing of my boyfriend's car because we didn't move it for 2 weeks. When we thought someone had stolen it and contacted management, they said that we were supposed to move it from parking spaces at least once a week. When my boyfriend went to the office with a copy of our lease and pointed out that they had no reason to tow his car because in the lease it only states flat tires, no tires, undrivable, etc. then we had to drive all the way to Dale Mabry to pick it up (as if we had time, being full time workers and college students). The towing company wanted to charge us $200 but management said it was a mistake and made them give us the car.
Overall, this has been the worst apartment complex that we've ever lived in. Don't be bribed with their extremely low prices and fees because it's not worth it. We should of known that it was so cheap for a reason! The only good thing that's happened was that when we moved in someone left us a washer and dryer that works perfectly. The only reason that we decided not to break the lease the day that we witnessed an attempted shooting behind the church is because we're barely home, but it's still the worse place to live.

Oh my God, I think we may be neighbors, this place is horrible, I know about that annoying dog, the kids that smokes and doesn't go to school. Lease is up the end of July and I am ready to go. My neighbors above me walk so heavy and as much as I have complained to them just to tell them to be curious, that people do live under them and want to sleep at night when they are up 3am. The walls are really thin. I hope you find someplace better than this as well. I make a huge mistake. I am not from here and was trying to find somewhere close to the school and my job. I just wished I knew where I was going. I did also get a washer and dryer left in here as well good luck.

I moved out of that place last August. Ever since the management was changed to Barfield Bay, the apartment complex went downhill fast. They only care about filling the apartments with anyone and they don't do background checks. I had 2 neighbors that were complete trash and did drugs and partied at any hour. Even after one neighbor was evicted the management did not check to see if the door was locked and people were using the apartment as a sex and drug place. They threw traah on the stairs and the breezeway. I had an upstairs neighbor who broke the drain pipe off of her kitchen sink and still proceeded on washing her dishes with water going everywhere and down into my apartment. I went upstairs and first asked her nicely to stop using the drain as she was soaking my kitchen in the process and she said she had to finish the dishes. Well, this is when I had to get angry with her. Maintenance tried to put it off until the next day and I had to yell at them to do something. They did not address the water damange in my apartment until a week later and they just painted over the spots. The upstairs neighbor would do laundry in the middle of the night and the load would be unbalanced. I complained numerous times to the office and they did nothing. When I was moved out and I had a few things in my locked car, there were a few kids checking out the car and I had to chase them off.
I will never move to that area of Tampa again!!
