This complex is extremely prone to flooding. Two days ago the entire complex was under water. Water breached most of the first floor apartments and flooded the entire parking lot. In fact, the water was so high that cars in the lot actually floated into each other. This is not the first time flooding has been an issue. The county realized this was a problem more than a year ago and spent millions on new drainage systems. So there is little hope this problem has been fixed.
The main entrance was underwater and the only gate not under water remained locked during the rising waters. It was unlocked well after cars had already received interior flood damage. Most residents had to push their cars out of the complex to reach higher, dry ground. Lower lying areas in the parking lot were 3' deep.
Staff compounded the problem by shutting off power to all the buildings, which remained off (and is still off) in many units 2 days after the flooding. Water was shut off by staff the following morning. Water still remains in the parking lot two days after the flooding and is impassable for most residents. Staff has yet to restore water to any units.
The flooding was so severe four separate networks had their news helicopters circling the complex for several hours.
This was a great complex years ago but it has quickly deteriorated over the past year.

As much as I hate this Apt. complex,(lying employees and gunshots from the surrounding neighborhood) the flooding was due to Hurricane Frances sitting on Tampa and dumping massive amounts of rain. And the Networks flew overhead mainly to cover the retirement homes being evacuated, the Apt. was just in the area.
