Yo!

No Car Needed - For Real!

I've been a resident at the University Square Apartments (2900, not the other set) for two years now. Pros: No car needed! And boy do I mean it. The apartment complex is located smack dab in North Tampa's (only)tidalwave development zone, and literally parameters the campus of the University of South Florida. All of this means that everything is within walking distance. Across the street you have your Kash and Karry supermarket, Staples, barber shop, video rental shop, and dry cleaners to name just a few. Two blocks up you have the University Square Mall which fills the gap of services and shops you simply wouldn't even want to waste gas driving to. To do anything living here is easier and better without the car. Location aside, you have to appreciate just how well-kept the landscape is and they keep up with local policy enforcement. The complex is safe and goodlooking.

That said, there are cons. First, they've raised my rent every years since being here...the last time by over $30! As I write this it looks like Lexford, the previous property company, has handed over the management to Equity, so there's no telling how much of the quality I speak of will stick. Equity owns and operates numerous other local properties which look cared-for, so this may not be cause for alarm. However, it is a transition. Also, the actual apartment units are "cookie cutter" modular style units you can see propped up around other colleges. Identical units exist in Temple Terrace and Ft. Myers. Let's just say that one in ten college students knows your floor plan if you're a resident here. And finally, though the outside is immaculately clean, the inside of these units is definetely worn. You'll live here for the convenience, bear it for the pleasent landscaping, but you'll grumble about the tattered shoebox existence inside.
