Not a Resident @ Westshore, decided on The Place Apts

From: SagiFaith

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

APT SIZE:
I'm not sure what to make of the most recent review where the reviewer said the apartment was "large." I took a tour of one of the one-bedroom apartments they offer and didn't care for the layout or the size. I was also worried I wouldn't be able to fit my couch or furniture into the elevators or the apartment door. So I decided against Westshore, partly for these reasons.

HALLWAYS, VAGRANTS, & NOISE:
I have to agree with the reviewers that commented on the hallways, vagrants/lingering people and the gates. I'm an unmarried business women and felt the hallways weren't probably the safest or best-lit. The gates did appear to only be for show, not for security. As for the reviewer's comment on noise from the interstate, that doesn't bother me because I lived next to I-4 in Orlando and got used to it after 6 months.
Also, the parking at Westshore was adequate when I visited the site.

Instead of Westshore, I decided to choose one of Bengal Properties' other locations, THE PLACE Apartments on Davis Island. They have a HUGE double-closet (which was probably the main appeal for me!), vaulted ceilings (which I think contributes to the apartment running a little hot or cold sometimes) and decent living space (although I couldn't fit my standard-sized sofa into the apartment!). :^(
Most of the parking is on-the-street, but there are some marked spots on the other side of the apartments. There are two dumpsters and a small coin laundry room (4 small washers and 4 dryers).
The apartments are within walking distance to all the Davis Island restaurants, two gas stations, an off-site laundry facility, and a Bank of America. There's also a Publix on Bayshore Blvd. and a Walgreens, only minutes away (once you learn the short-cuts).

Please, note: the buildings were built back in the 1950s and are WOOD-Construct. Although I was assured none of my other neighbors were suffering like I did this year, I had a termite swarming problem March/July (winged termites). However, once I notified the main leasing office (Sandra H.) pest control was sent out FAST and on three occasions until I was satisfied with the service.

There were three maintenance requests I've made since moving in last year: a cracked window, a bathroom sink pipe leak and the installation of a weather stripping at the base of the front door (to keep the bugs out). All were handled quickly and were completed successfully. In the case of the leak, I think they installed a whole new sink and faucet.

Pest control comes out regularly and the landscaping is well-maintained. Although, many of the residents have dogs (so the smell of dog poo is occasionally a little...strong).

Pricing is reasonable and the location is only 15 minutes from my job.

I agree that Sandra does a great job. She is prompt with calls back, she is sincere, and doesn't make you feel like you're pestering her with standard requests or inquiries.

Overall, I would recommend The Place Apts., and probably even Westshore, depending on what you're looking for and what your expectations are. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
