Years at this apartment: 2004-01-01 - 2004-01-01
When my wife and I needed a place to live.
We passed by Wildwood Acres.
It looked like a nice community.
We went inside to talk to someone about an apartment.
We were approached by a rep that seemed very nice.
We were shown an apartment model.
The yard looked really nice and the rep was very accomidating with my questions.
We decided to rent one of their apartments.
The first day we moved in the air conditioning went out.
It went out 3 times within a week.
They replaced a part and everything seemed fine.
When winter came the heater went out.
The maintenance guy came in and tapped on the herting unit and left.
Of course, this didn't do anything so we decided to purcchase heater for the apartment.
During the winter the apartment started to have a weird smell an our carpet was wet near the closet that hold the air conditioning/heating unit.
For some reaseon the unit was leaking water and part of the wall fell apart in the closet.
I looked and behind all the wall paper that fell off the wall was a bunch of mold and fungus.
I called to tell the manager but they didn't care.
I was told someone will be by to fix the wall.
That never happened.
Then my tub started leaking water.
The faucet dripped constantly and I'd throw away buckets of water.
I called the manager to report the problem.
Maintenance came and replaced a part .
It kept leaking and I had to call the maintenance 4 times for the same problem.
When I called the manager for the 4th time I got a return call by a very angry supervisor.
She told me that the maintenace guy said I was causing the faucet to leak.
I told her that I has a bucket of water in my tub.
She said very rudely, "keep it I'm sending down the maintenance supervisor!" Well, the maintenance supervisor never came instead the maintenace guy replaced a part again and it finely stopped leaking.
I decided that I no longer wanted to live their so I called the Supervisor and asked if I could terminate the lease early.
She said no.
So I called the corporate office and complained.
The Vice President of the property said I could leave.
The maintenace issues I mentioned were just a few.
There are many more issues that needed maintenance.
My wife and I were told the apartment had upgraded cabinets.
When we moved in I noticed the cabinets were very old with a new coat of white paint.
The doors on the cabinets never closed properly and the drawers that hold the utensils did had tracks for the drawers to glide on.
So our fingers got crushed a few times from drawes folding in due to the weight of the utensils.
The maintenace tracked all kinds of dirt on my rug and didn't clean up their mess when they attempted to fix something.
Once my window broke and the maintenace guy fixed the window but from that point on the window would fall out so I had to put something to prop the window up.
The people in the managers office were nice until I complained about all the problems.
When I called the corporate office I was really on their list.
When we finally moved out we were charged for things we didn't do.
We were also told by the manager when we first approached the property that when me moved out that we could leave anything we didn't want.
My wife left a small picture in a nice frame.
They charged us $15 for leaving the picture.
This place is the worst place I ever lived.
We decided after dealing with all this to buy my own house.
Which we did.
We paid for the unjustfied charges.
The vice president of the real estate company that owned the property told me to deal with the Supervisor about the charges.
I called her and she cursed at me on the phone.
I decided I just want to be done with these people and I'm not going to let then ruin my credit.
