The yard is not worth it.

We moved to Wildwood Acres because of the yard, which we wanted for our dog.
Let me tell you about me yard. I spent 3 weeks pulling weed, raking leaves and removing debris, broken bottles, etc. Then we experienced our first sewage spill in the backyard. The sewage continues to this day.
When it backs up they come with this long coil and fish it down to exposed pipe in the backyard, which does not close properly. Then when that is done they pull the coil out and spread it out in the yard, so there is sewage all over the yard where my dog plays, yum!. When they are finally done they leave the mess for me to clean up, I have gone through more bleach living here then I have my entire life combined.
The conditions inside. Granted the buildings are old, but they are poorly maintained, with temporary patches being made instead of spending the money and replacing defective equipment.
-The air smells moldy when it blows cold air and forget about the heat.
-The bathrooms are awful, the bathtub and sink have been painted over and are now pealing
-The kitchen cabinets are falling apart. They increased the rent by $30 when we renewed for improvements they said, well all they do is come in and nail wood trim around the edges without painting them oh and install a microwave, which I did not want. By the way they have yet to do these so called improvement
-My husband has killed over 40 brown recluse spiders inside our apartment; one of them was on the bed.
-Dont even get me started on the ants!
On pest control. They do come to spray once a month but all the technion does is spray the baseboards in the kitchen and bathroom. I once asked if they could spray outside and the response was that they were not allowed because the management will not pay for it.
Garbage facilities One word says it all gross. There is one dumpster for all residents to use. To get there you must walk through a walled passage that is normally cluttered with trash that people were too lazy to throw in themselves. You can pay $25 a month and have an independent contractor collect your refuse at the curb, but it is not worth it
Recreation facilities What recreational facilities' True there are two pools, and yes you can swim in them, but dont be surprised if you get an ear infection from all the children peeing in the pool, or develop a cough from the overdose of chlorine vapors. There is a tennis court, but it is not maintained. There are supposed to be basketball hoops, but I have never seen them. And for all the young families that live in here, there is not one piece of playground equipment to be seen.
Utilities
Our electric bill for this less then 1000 sq. feet of space is more then that of my parents who have over 1500 sq. ft.
The water bill is horrible and have you noticed that you water and sewer usage are always the same. Did you know that they own the water company' It is not county water. Also half of the complex is on a septic system, yet those units still get charged a sewage bill..
Miscellaneous information and complaints
Did any of you know that there is a sexual predator living up on Frontage right beside the bus stop!, check it out for yourself.
The stupid idiot in charge of the grounds keeps planting trees under power lines, duh!
The company that owns Wildwood acres is called Brookside, they own numerous apartment complexes in the area. The management, i.e. Sarah, of wildwood acres is in fact related to the owners, so if you go and complain to the owners about management, nothing gets done.
Sarahs son Butch is the maintenance supervisor, his son Josh also lives and works on property. Kathy the lady in the office with the crazy makeup is somehow related as well.
When you go to leave and make your escape from hell, be sure to clean your apartment from top to bottom, they will get you for everything.
When cleaning the apartments for new tenants, they dont clean the walls, instead they paint over the dirt with the cheapest paint they can find.
Flooding is a constant problem especially for the units up on frontage. If you look carefully you will see sandbags to prevent the water from running into the front.
Shortly after moving in the parking pads where repaved, we thought oh great they are going to fix the problems up front so that the water wont run in, wrong they made it worse, we scrap bottom every time we pull in. I could go on and on but I hope that you get the general idea.
You may be asking why we have stayed so long' Well one we did not have the money to move and second we have a large dog and wildwood acres is one of the few places that will accept large animals. See this is the ploy they use to get you in, . You , the potential rented are attracted by the yard for your dog, your own private space, the nice and welcoming atmosphere. Once you are in the tables turn and you see the other seedy, manipulative side and by then you are too late. You can leave, you can break your lease but you will lose your deposit and have to cough up 2 months rent before you do.
I really could go on for hours here, basically please save your money, find another place to live. Even if you have to walk the dog 10 times a day it will be worth it in the end. There are several lovely dog parks where you can being your dog to run and play.

Thanks so much. We were thinking of renting there to have a yard for our kids. Your comments may have saved us alot of heartache.

Please check it out and not take her word for it. I have lived here for many years and some of her person comments may or may not be true but I know for a fact her comments about the staff is not true. The manager is not related to the owner. My yard is keep up nice and I love having a back yard that is my own. Any problems I have had with my apartment is always fixed. The staff has always been helpful. So check it out and don't take her word for it. Drive around and ask some of us that have lived her for years. That woman is nuts!

I used to live at Wildwood Acres and have to agree, to some extent, w/both of these comments. The complex is inviting, and it is also quiet. The yard is a big draw as well. But cottncamby is right about quite a lot of things: the plumbing is atrocious, my bathroom flooded on a regular basis, and upgrades are non-existent. One thing that helped alot was that I went through the apartment before we moved in & made up a list of everything that was wrong w/it. That way, they HAD to fix any thing that was on the move-in sheet they provided. The staff is completely inter-related so there is a lot of nepotism going on. And the staff at Wildwood Acres is most definitely related to the owners of Brookside.
Best advice ~ rent with your eyes wide open! Expect less than stellar services or you will be severely disappointed. The yard is fabulous if you don't mind maintaining it yourself. My dog loved it! And if you have a dog, put in a doggie door!
Good luck!

Absolutely agree-the office people are the most unprofessional group of people I have ever met. This place should be condemned since they're not making necessary improvements. I had a leaking toilet at the base for the 4 years I lived there! Every person that came in to "fix" the problem, apparently didn't know what they were doing. It's disgusting, really. I am not exagerrating. I actually have pics of the ac unit that was rigged and looks like an eight year old did the work. Black mold is an ongong and serious problem. I only lived there because of my dogs but believe me, there are other places you can go; otherwise, you will be very disappointed and frustrated.
