Anyone that thinks they are interested in moving there should think again. The complex is ghetto, they will rent to anyone whether they have good credit bad credit or no credit at all. All kinds of people live there, criminals, crackheads and crazy people. The staff will act nice just to get you to move in but once you are in, you begin to see there true colors. They won't fix things like they should, they barely respond. They will move anybody next to you and you know a place is bad when they offer to pay you to help move someone in. They have to beg tenants to get other people to move there. Save your money and insanity and move somewhere safe and worth your money.

I was a resident at Willow Brook for two unhappy years, and I very much agree with the above comments. Willow Brook is a horrid place! Probably the most noticeable and persistent problem is the total irresponsibility of the pet owners. The apartment welcomes dogs of ALL sizes, and the tenants let their dogs "do their business" wherever they want. Forget about walking around outside. Furthermore, the dogs will bark all night and prevent sleep. There are also lots of lower-income families who reside at WB. Some of these tenants blast their radios in their cars or apartments at full volume, regardless of the hour. I had to leave my apartment and visit the campus library to get any studying done. My wife and I didn't feel safe at all walking outside; the community is ungated and it is common to see "undesirables" lurking about at all hours. They sometimes get loud and can be heard cursing and yelling. This is no place for children. Another wretched aspect of WB is the parking situation. The parking places are much smaller than I've ever seen; I guess this was done to make more parking available. The result is frequent scrapes. I had two "hit and run" incidents at WB parking lot--imagine coming down to find your brand new, pampered Mazda Miata sporting two dents and scratches on the back fender. Of course, the person responsible never owned up to it. If you live at WB, you will frequently find yourself backing up and performing strange manuevers in the parking lot because the zoning is so narrow, awkward, and dangerous. This situation doesn't prevent the parents of so many small children from letting them play outside among the cars, though--be very careful. Finally, the maintenance department is lamentable. My next-door neighbor and I had leaks in our roofs. The neighbor reported the leak, but nothing was done about it. She came back from a week's vacation and realized the leak had grown worse in her absence and ruined some of her furniture. I gave up trying to have my leak fixed; the bedroom carpet was always soaked by the window (it frequently rains in Tampa). There was also a large, unwholesome stain on the roof near this leak. In short, Willowbrook is a disaster. If the above commentary wasn't enough to dissuade you, I guess you will have to learn for yourself. Beware! |
