Reflections of West Palm Beach
< Prev Review | >
I lived in reflections in 2007 and didn't have a problem. My wife and I rented a 2/1 at about 911 square feet for about $980 a month. We moved out at the end of 07 to live back in NY. We just moved back down in 5/09 into a 2/2 at 1067 square feet for $899 a month. There prices are set by the way the economy is performing. We had to pay a $150 deposit for our cat and $20 extra dollars a month for our cat. The staff remembered us which made the process easier & smoother. The staff is friendly and the maint. is as well. Reflections is certainly not the best in WPB, but I would recommend them to a friend. The grounds are kept up well with the lawn guys coming every week or so. Nicely landscaped and sidewalks & parking lots are in good condition. Ponds are relaxing with plenty of wildlife to watch. It is secure for the most part except one of the gates tends to stay open for some unknown reason occasionally. There are some shady people in the complex but that is south florida for ya. I wouldn't say they are drug dealers or if they are they they don't dress like them. I don't find any loitering in the parking lot at night. Again you have to remember your in south florida and 1/2 mile up haverhill at 45th its ghetto. I feel reflections is relatively safe. Trust me I have a wife at home who is by herself from 6 pm till 6am while I work and if I didn't trust the complex we wouldn't be living there. I read these other comments left and I gotta believe these people with negative comments are all about the drama. If you are not about the drama and have a positive attitude than you should have no problem with reflections!!!!!

In all honesty I wouldn't chalk all of these reviews up to "drama" if I were you. I've been living at Reflections since 2002 and I've watched this development go to hell and back.
When I first moved here this was indeed an excellent neighbourhood and it stayed that way for the first two years until Aimco started changing the staff and management around. This used to be a well managed, clean, and safe development where almost everyone knew each other. From the start, management used to go far beyond what was required of them. Each member of the staff used to live on the property in different sections and acted not only as employees but also as neighbourhood captains. If you ever needed anything from maintenance to resolution of a problem with your neighbour you were encouraged to knock on your section captain's door at any hour of the day or night and they would gladly help you. Back then on a weekly basis all of the side walks and hallways were cleaned and hosed out, as well the lakes and lawns were treated for fleas and insects. Minor things such as broken handrails, burned out lights, etc. were taken care of within hours of being reported. As well, everyone was kept well informed of what was going on around the development be it good or bad (for example, if someone's car had been broken into the day after you would receive a note on your front door telling you of the incident and reminding you not to leave valuables in plain view).
After the first change in management, within months Reflections had become a living hell. Service wise the development itself began to quickly deteriorate, as the new maintenance staff was not willing to keep up with it. The weekly cleaning regiment had stopped and soon the side walks and hallways were covered in filth. As well the lawn treatments were discontinued which resulted in an infestation of fleas and mosquitoes. To top it all off the system of section captains had been disassembled, and the new staff were completely unresponsive to most any issue. Before long, it was not uncommon to see troves of thugs and criminal types loitering in the hallways and common areas. Soon after it became a ritual for all of them to congregate around the pool area for nightly pot parties which would then deteriorate further into violence and acts of public nudity (sex in and around the pool area, under the stairs, etc). I kid you not when I tell you that at one point it was not uncommon to walk around Reflections at any time of the day or night and plainly witness the use and/or exchange of drugs or to even be accosted by a prostitute looking to make some money to pay for his or her drug habit.
It stayed that way for a good three years during which time Reflections had been overrun by nothing but trouble and a staff that merely turned a blind eye. It all finally came to a head when the development had undergone its first murder wherein a man who lived here as part of a student housing program for the local culinary school had been killed execution style by his dealer, shot 3 times in the back of the head for owing in excess of $5,000 in drug debt. Since then an effort had taken place to clean the place up again, however until recently it has been a pretty rough ride. By now yes, most of the trouble has been cleared out however there are still elements of this problematic past which linger. For the most part however, the most one has to deal with is the lackadaisical attitude presented by the management staff (mostly presented to those who have lived here for a year or longer), as well as the shoddy - half assed methods used to maintain the development (dirty pool, over-chlorinated hot tub, dirty side walks and hallways, etc.)
