Absolutely Awful Place to Live!!!!!

My name is Christina and I broke my lease after 8 years to get out of Windward @ the Villages. It is a nasty place to live. A group of tenants tried to tell the new owners what a horrible mistake they were making with the new paint colors and got absolutely no response. So they posted their thoughts on this website. I was verbally assaulted at the pool by a drunken maintenance man because he incorrectly assumed it was me that posted to this website. Well now I am. I want everyone to know exactly what kind of hellhole this place really is. First, the assistant manager will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign a lease. Then she will tell you everything about your neighbors, including their net worth and criminal background, etc. All straight out of their confidential file. You will be moving into an old woodframe building where you can hear everything your neighbors do and say, including all the stuff you wish you couldn't. Before I left they moved in a guy with a drum kit who plays at 10pm. Forget maintenance. One of my neighbors had to request a door repair 6 times before it was done. I was without A/C for 3 days over the 4th of July because the wrong emergency phone number was on the answering machine for months. Rather than change the machine, management handed out a piece of paper with the correct number on it. Meanwhile the young lady whose number was incorrectly on Windward's answering machine, got hundreds of angry, screaming calls from tenants. When she tried to call the office to report it, they must have been watching the caller ID because they didn't answer the phone when she called for two days. One Sunday, the maintenace manager was so drunk he couldn't remember which apartment he had come out of. And he was on the community golf cart! The office staff sits around barefoot watching TV with their kids! The trees were all cut down because the roots were damaging the foundations of the buildings. Then they paint it the most God-awful color which retains heat. You can expect your electric bill to practically double. Why that color' "The owner likes it." Their solution' Go buy blackout curtains! Then there is the water/sewer/garbage bill. Windward uses a sub-metering company, Ista North America which is a NOI (net operating income). In other words Windward makes additional income from your water usage. My $50 bill from Ista would be $20 from the City of WPB. Call the WPB water department and check it out for yourself! Parking is a nightmare. There are just not enough spaces for the # of units. People permanently park in the prime spots and in the "tow away" zones & nothing is done about it. Cars are keyed, hit and vandalized. They have a "business center" now. Yippee! You need to be unemployed or work the night shift to use it. Why' Management is afraid you will steal their computers! To sum it up, after you sign a lease & move in, you will hear 3 things. "I don't know" I'm sorry" and "There's nothing I can do about it." Do yourself a favor. Rent in a CBS concrete block building with plenty of parking. There are lots of great deals out there. I found a house for less money and less utilities. Windward is a ghetto.
