It's Only Getting Worse

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I moved into Empirian in February of 2006. Here's a hint. Don't do it. When we first moved in we had to make a list of all the things that needed to be fixed. None of them ever were. The maintenance people take forever to get around to fixing stuff (with the exception of once, when our air conditioning broke, and they came in that night to fix it).
Whoever they hire to repaint the apartments is completely inept. They painted EVERYTHING. They painted the chain on the chandelier, the slide lock on the door (so it's unusable), they painted a puzzle piece that the old tenants left in the closet so it's stuck to the shelf, they painted the interior door key to the wall, they painted some of the outlets shut, and they even painted the smoke detectors.
While living here our bathtub drain got stuck shut and would not open. It took them over a week to come and fix it. Not to much longer after that our oven started burning everything we put in it, when they came to replace our oven they took the old one along with all the pots and pans in it. When we discovered this and confronted them the next day they told us there was nothing they could do.
Worst of all, when we moved in pigeons were living in the ceiling of our bedroom. They would scratch ALL NIGHT keeping us awake. When we complained about it they told us to just wait, because they were replacing all the vents in the overhang part where the birds were getting in. It took them entirely too long to get rid of the birds, and there is still a hole there. They didn't close it up, we're just lucky a new bird hasn't discovered the hole yet. There are still squirrels living in the ceiling of our living room.
The gutter on our balcony is filled with leaves and has not been cleaned out once, so we can't leave ANYTHING on our balcony that we don't want to get wet because the whole thing gets soaked when it rains.
Ever since the new management took over, things have only gotten worse. I once went in to pick up a package that had been left at the front office, and the staff gave me trouble, saying the picture on my ID didn't look like me. All three pools were locked off for a big chunk of the summer. The pools are constantly DIRTY and at one point, one of them was completely filled with tadpoles for more than a week.
They installed grey water sprinklers which make the whole complex stink at night. They cut down all the really nice trees and replaced them with ugly fountains and scrawny ugly trees. There's still dog ---- all over the ground.
Oh, and the "24 Hour Fitness Center"' It was "Closed for Renovation" when we moved in, and nothing has changed since then.
The state of the parking lot is really bad. There are always new pot holes and they fill them up poorly so that they reform within a few weeks. The speed bumps are also laid by people who didn't know what they were doing, as some of them are unevenly spaced and hellish to drive over.
There are often people playing loud music and shouting in the parking lot very late at night. We once heard gunshots in the middle of the night, and the police never came.
The only thing this apartment had going for it was the price, and now they've raised it. In short.... STAY AWAY.
