Bishop Park Apartments

I am sorry but I have to disagree with a lot of the stuff the last reviewer said.
First off I have lived here for going on 7 years now, and am finally moving away because of a job transfer.
I know since I have been here, the management company has only passed through 2 hands. Merryland was the first and Equity Residential was the second. I have a friend that lives on another property here in Orlando whoms management company has changed 4 times in the last 2 years. For the property being 14 years old, I would say that is a great thing. As for office staff turnovers, I agree with that, but who expects to stay in the same job day in and day out forever. People move up in the company and other people move on to better jobs. Not to knock the boat, but they dont have the greatest job in the world and turnover is very high in all sales industries.
There are a lot of dogs that do live here. I have transfered twice in the apartment complex and can say that if you live in the back of the property, you will see more of the poop there. However since you have moved off property, you do not know the actions that have been taken. Most of the poop has been gone and all the sidewalks where sprayed with some minty smell. Also they also now charge money for anyone caught not picking up after their pet. The letter says like $25 or something.
I do agree the walls are a little thinner than normal, but they have stood very well. During the first hurricane Bishop Park was probably the worst property I have ever seen as far as debree goes. If you ever watch the news you would of heard that four apartment complexes within a half of a mile from us have been completely condemned. One of the other properties was only 5 years old. Bishop Park held up very well and in my opinion is one of the safests places to be if another storm were to rip through here.
As for cars being broken into..where do you not have one or two being broken into' Even when I live at a guarded community it happened. I happen to work for the city though and Bishop Park has not had any reports of criminal activity in a very long time. For anyone who would like to check this out, I welcome you to call or go by the local county courthouse, they will be more than happy to provide you with that information. Because the crime rate is so low is why I have continued to live here for so long.
As for the newly repainted buildings... DID YOU SEE THE OTHER COLORS THEY HAD PICKED OUT''... the yellow was a great choice compared to those. My patio came out great as well!! I did call to complain about the flooring. Its a little scratchy on the feet, but in my building I have not see evidence of what you are talking about.
My water pressure in my apartment is great, I have never had any problems with it. Also my water has never completly quit or gone out on me. Even during the hurricanes my water was the only thing that ran steadily. I too have an old water heater, and the hot water does run out in about 20 minutes, but so does my parents house when I go to visit them and they have a bran new water heater. So if thats my worst problem I am doing ok.
I have never gotten any notices that anyone has ever needed to or has entered my apartment. One of the maintence guys has been here for even longer than I have, he was here when the complex was first build and I would trust him with anything. And if you would ask or even really know your office staff and neighbors...The other two maintence guys that were here were promoted to differnt properties. So dont you think if there were any reports of anything being taken from apartment they would of fired and not promoted them'''
I dont know how you lived here for 5 years and dont know anything about your property. Like I said I have been here for 7 years and if you were to pay attention... the lawn guys come every Tuesday. I know this because I have a huge bush in front of my patio that I call in to have trimmed about every 6 months so that I can see over my patio when sitting down. And... if the lawn mower did hit your car.. and you did have proof of it.. then they would have paid for it. Its just like someone else hitting your car.. everyone has insurance..including the companies that are contracted out. Working for the city I know this very well. So that would be your own stupidty for not calling that in, because they always have trucks all over the property on Tuesdays that have the Phone numbers plastered on the side.
AND yet again... pay attention to your lease when it comes to security deposits. Security deposits have never been required at Bishop Park, so your right you should have gotten nothing back, because you put nothing down. You probably paid a cleaning type fee because they made me pay one when i transfered, but Bishop Parks have not required security deposits in the past. Yes.. thats right you have no idea what you are talking about.
As for neighbors, they come and go. Maybe it was just you. The people that live across from me have been here for 3 years, the lady above me for 2 years, and the one next to me for 2 years as well.
There are many newer apartment complexes in town, but like you said they are about $100 more a month. That is $1200 saved over a year and more money every month for me to use on something I really want to buy. Not everyone has $100 to throw away every month.
For the comment made about being up to date and being up to hurricane standards. You do know that all residential buildings have to be checked and licensed every year and that doesn't exclude this place. Please do more research before you bash my home.
In conclusion I have never had any loss of sleep living here, and criminal activity is more than welcome to be researched. But you will find that its almost nonexsistent here as opposed to other places. Hey why dont you ask the old courtesy officer who moved to a newer property because they thought it would be better.. I promise he will tell you that his new property gives him 10 times more problems/calls/criminal activity more than Bishop Park ever did.
I live towards the back of the property and I love it here. I was comming to Apartment Raiting to check out some places in Miami I was thinking about and thought I would see what people had to say about my home for the past 7 years. I really hate dissing this person, but obviously they havent done any kind of research and do not have any kind of support to back up any of their claims. This place has been one of the best places I have ever lived and as I move on to where my job takes me, I cant stand to see the place I have lived and love for so long be trashed by someone just running their mouth.
Bishop Park does have it problems just like any other place, there is not perfectville, otherwise we would all want to be there.
Oh one other good thing. I have a friend that lived down the road towards UCF. Got a great deal when they first moved in and then after the first year their rent jumped up about $90. My rent has gone up anywhere from $5 to $25 every year. Much better than anyone else I have ever heard of.

This person is either a liar, insecure, someone who is in the leasing office, or one of the useless "courtesy" officers. I lived at BP for 6 years, and most of what this person wrote is wrong. It was a noisy place, low water pressure in MY building, water ALWAYS being cut off to the building for repairs, and a poorly maintained AC system.
I called the cops 4 times when living there and I have the police reports to prove it. Domestic violence, drug abuse in the street and noise statute violations. Read up on it, "city worker". LOL...YOU don't know your facts, and you are arguing through proclamation versus factual research.
Front staff was EXCELLENT but had to deal with what they had been given to manage. Can't fault them for it. This property is definitely on the decline, and any fool can figure out that an apartment complex does not get better as it ages. I would not really recommend it to anyone, and I would caution other readers that this person is submitting some biased "facts". Fact is, with Full Sail nearby, Rollins and UCF..it is a student mecca. As a result: loud, undisciplied post-teens occupying a place of their own for the first time. Noise, disregard for the feelings of others....are common themes.
For the prices charged here, you can EASILY get a 3/2 home with lawn service included. (But not in Winter Park)
Having said all that, it is better then WENTWORTH in E.Orlando, so I would recommend it for 5,7 or 9 month short-fuse leases.
