my husband and i rented one of their 3rd floor walk ups. we are a quiet middle aged couple just needed 12 months to find a new home. we signed a 1 year lease. we paid our rent on time, every month. then, we moved out last month when our lease expired. today, i get a letter we owe them over a $1000. i feel like i'm being threatened that if i don't pay their bull&%$# invoice, i could risk my mortgage approval. it feels like i'm being mugged. i'm not paying it. don't let them do this to you. they apparently try to make even more money by black mailing you even after you've satisfied your lease agreements!!!!!!!

You have to give a notice. They can't just assume your moving out. If they charged you it's probably because you didn't give a proper notice. They aren't mind readers. And No.. I don't work for them, but I am in the industry and I use to live there in 2004.

Just because your lease ends on a certain date, that does not mean you can just get up and move out. You are required to give a notice to vacate in writing and I am certain it is stated so in the lease that you signed.
