I don't know what you are complaining about

My girlfriend and I have been living here for about8-9 months. I'm a 28 yr old college student and I actually like this place. I am origanally from Maine and was worried about moving here because I never got a chance to look at any apartments before our move. Compared to all the apt. complexes in the east winter park area...this one is one of the best. I have friends who live in a lot of surrounding complexes and when they moved in, thier apts had roaches and ------ appliances along with shootings...murders and rapes. This place is way nicer than a lot of the so called apartments around here. Landscapers are here every Monday and pretty much everyone here has been nice to me and my girlfriend since moving in. One of the maintenance men even helped us move our couch in... if that's not service then I don't know what is.
Yes the dumpster is always over flowing...there is only one for the whole comlplex...only god knows why. But I've seen tenants not even try to make the effort to put it in the dumpster they just lay it on the ground. The other gripe I have is that the "security gate" is always broken then when it's fixed, impatient tenants ram the gate with their suvs and pickups because they expect a gate to open in less then a second. I've had issues with my apartment but when I told the girls in the office they informed the maintenance staff right in front of me and my problems were fixed within 2 days.
Now...my biggest problem since moving here was that my car was broken into around xmas. And if you know the Orlando area like I do.... this is the mildest crime you'll find. I watch the news and there is a murder all the time. Just because there is a gate doesn't make your apartment safe....it's not area 51 for christ sake.
I informed the office and they were concerned and gave me the # to the sherrif's office. Unfortunately the Orange County Sheriff's could care less. they didn't even come check out the crime. I had to file a report online....they are too worried about murderers crack heads prostitutes rapists and kidnappers like most cops should be worried about. Overall my complaint is with the Orlando are in general. It's nothing like Disney world here. So if you are moving to Winter Park then Bishop Park should be on your list of "to sees" along with The Harbor and Seabrook. Other than that don't bother.

Amazing! From Maine, huh? Well, it might be alittle different up there than down here. I have lived in Florida for the last 40 years and if you think a car getting broken into is ok, it is not! It is not a mild crime. I classify this infringement up there with the robberies, arson, murder, etc. It's a violation of your rights as a human being. You must of felt violated to some degree. If not, then you really don't care. And you are right, no law enforcement agency is willing to tackle whatever happens within this apartment complex because they don't even know who governs this area. We have had an incident where we needed law enforcement to come and none of them admitted that this was their jurisdiction. That is why Orange County Sheriff's Department gave you the cold shoulder. Yes, the apartments on the outside are very nice, the atmosphere is quite nice and peaceful. You would think it's cool. And for the most part it is. Most of the people who have been complaining though are having real major problems. And sometimes, people are just not as qualified to do the work that needs to be done. So the work does not get done in a timely manner for some (try two to three weeks wait). And if you get anyone of them on a bad day, stand back. You will be yelled at just like everyone else. The other thing is the lying about what they do. (we have a letter to prove this statement) Believe me, if you saw and experienced what I have, you would understand what I'm talking about. I draw the line when it affects your health, causing a domino effect in your life. Now about the dumpster...if you saw the 6 large raccoons (yes I counted them one night) that live IN the dumpster, who come out to greet you everytime you take the garbage out, you would throw the garbage the best way you can into the dumpster. And if it misses, it's scary (especially at night) to get close enough to pick it up and try to throw it in again. Those guys can be awfully intimidating. I have heard during my lifetime that when a raccoon lives or comes into a human living space, you should make a rule to stay away from them just in case of rabies. They only come near humans when they are rabid. It is true! They belong in the wild. It will be very difficult to get rid of these critters because animal control will just say we are in their living area. (tried to get rid of a possum once and that was their reaction) Rabid raccoons and humans do not mix. So unless you know for sure they are not diseased, the garbage will still be put into the dumpster the best way anyone can. I agree with you on the gate. This apartment complex does have a bug problem (ants and roaches), but I must admit, so does the entire state of Florida. So, if you do not like living with bugs, tough it out or move out of the state. It's too bad that you think this is the best place around. Because that means, if this is the best, guess there are NO apartments in the Central Florida area that are decent. Yipes! Now that's really a scary thought!

This response is right on!!! Bishop Park is getting too seedy, and the units are patched-up insufficiently by people who probably don't have any kind of real training or liscense to do home repairs.
Anyone who's satisfied at Bishop Park must have lived in a trailer as a kid b/c these apt's are not "luxery" as the entrance signs says.
