In the 8 months that I have lived in these apartments, my car was stolen twice from the parking lot and my apartment broken into once. Criminals live here -- this apartment is used as a halfway house, which is not something included in the brochures! One tenant has recently been arrested for breaking into several apartments and stealing a few cars (most likely including mine) from the parking lot over the past weeks. There are huge cockroaches galore, and not just because "this is Florida, you have to deal with a few bugs", but because of filthy tenants. I've heard gunfire outside at night, I've seen helicopters chasing down fugitives in the backyard, and I see police cars in the parking lot filling out police reports on a daily basis. The lights in the parking lot flicker on and off, which does not give much security at night. The rent is typically about $100-$150 cheaper per month here than elsewhere, but it simply is not worth it. For the extra money, you can live safely and cleanly pretty much anywhere else in the town. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE HERE.
