The price was right when my roomates and I moved into Hunter's Ridge; we even planned on renewing our lease, the first few months we were here. Sure, we'd signed up for a washer/dryer rental when we first moved here, and they made a "clerical error" and ended up with none to put in when we moved in; we were told sorry, that we'd be put on a waiting list for one, but it would probably be about 6 months...but no big deal, right'

Then our air conditioner broke. (4 times over the course of our year lease, and once, it took maitinence THREE DAYS to fix it.)

Then the a/c started to drip onto the thermostat of the water heater (a/c is located in a closet above the water heater) and started an electrical fire. We were without hot water for a few days, until they came to replace the thermostat. The dripping problem occured pretty often (despite monthly changing of the filter) and we've had to resort the last few months to both putting a bucket under the leak/drip and turning off the breaker for the heater when we went to sleep, just in case.

The security guards we had when we first moved in were replaced by a gate (which caused a resident entering the community facial scarring when it closed on him as he was riding a bike out to the sidewalk.) Apparently, to renew our lease, not only will our rent be raised 40-some dollars a month (not a huge deal, but inconvenient nonetheless) but we must each purchase a gate card for $25 more dollars.

Also, when we moved in, we had to pay a refurbishing fee for repainting and replacement of the carpet (which was actually only steam cleaned, there were holes in the walls from the previous occupants of this apartment, and leftover glow-in-the-dark stars all over my ceiling, which I had to take down myself.)

Add to that the fact that there were no less than two robberies in the complex in the last few months (one couple was robbed at the point of a sawed-off shotgun as they were getting out of their car one evening.) A few car breakins, another fire in the neighboring building; I assume from the same water heater/air conditioner problem, but I can't be sure.

Both pools have been closed several times over the course of our lease, often for weeks at a time, and the laundry room (which we had to use, as I said, since they didn't get us the washer/dryer we paid for) was unavailable for a little over a week, as well.

All in all...I would NOT recommend moving into Hunter's Ridge to anyone, especially if you want to live on the bottom floor, as the sounds of upstairs neighbors simply walking across the floor or using their shower are ridiculously loud.

I would have to say that I have never known of residents being completely satisfied with every aspect of apartment life. I have thus far lived in two complexes and am preparing to move into Hunter's Ridge in the summer. Rent rates are sky rocketing (so paying $40 more a month really isn't much at all compared to other places), every community: neighborhood and apartment complex has some crime (I lived in student housing once and a boy was killed in an apartment). Hunter's Ridge could be a horrible place to live; however, in reality one must realize that there are always going to be mishaps and problems. It is good to keep in mind that these people are property managers, not gods.
