RUN AWAY!!!

We've been here almost a year and it's been hell. The kids in the area are the worst, very disrespectful and loud. Always cursing and hanging out on my back patio or in the hallway leaving their garbage.
Before we moved here, the management tells us that our unit is being worked on and that we can't go in there yet even to look around. They instead show us another smaller unit that they said was basically the same thing and almost finished but needing minor work also.
So they have us sign the leasing papers and give us a date when our apt. will be finished... fine. When that date arrived and we opened the door to our new apt. my jaw hit the floor. Nothing was done at all.
In my unit, there was painting that still needed to be done, some doors won't shut and/or had bad or no insulation, the ceiling leaked, rusty shower drain fixtures, missing decorative light fixtures, holes and cracks around the base boards, no screens in the windows, upper kitchen cabinet shelves droop, my oven had no rack and the burners sit crooked on top like, "whatever".
One side of my lower kitchen cabinets are not put together (mine are looosely hanging there) and BUGS, BUGS, BUGS. Some of the worlds biggest palmetto bugs eventually find there way into my place despite my best efforts to seal the cracks and gaps.
My neighbor says (on top of the bugs), there are tiny black snakes in their unit.
The dumpsters regularly overflow with mega-garbage and furniture (no exaggeration) and the maintainance workers do really shotty work which they are slow to getting to.
The management sits there and smiles while you complain about the loud music and even louder middle-schoolers that plague that area EVERYDAY after school. And that's another thing, there's really nowhere for them to play but it would be nice if they hung out in front of their own house and not bring all that drama down to me.
The laundry facility sucks too. It's like playing Russian Roulette with the dryers to try and pick the one that works. We just take our clothes to the laundrymat around the corner and avoid all the crap.
I wouldn't recommend La Aloma to anyone (unless I can't stand you) but if you're going to move here anyway, demand that you see for yourself the 'actual' apt. you will be living in BEFORE you sign any lease papers, DO NOT ACCEPT PROMISES FROM THE MANAGEMENT. Also, drive by from time to time after hours and check out the dumpsters next to the newly built bridge, like what cha see'

I too have lived here almost a year. I would first like to comment on the complaints about the kids and the noise. You Rented an "apartment" in a "family complex"....what do you expect?? I find that if I don't hold my ear to the wall, or peek out my window ever 3 minutes...that the noise doesn't bother me!! Perhaps you should consider a house at the end of a lonely dirt road for your next rental!!! And now for the palmetto bugs....Welcome to Florida!! Florida has Palmetto bugs...I think I have had maybe 2 in my apartment in the past 6 months. Perhaps you should clean your apartment...it might stop the bugs!! I have found that the entire staff here is great, I have never had any problems. They are always friendly, and any repairs...though few and far between, have been handled very quickly! As far as the laundry room goes, there are a lot of people using the laundry room, obviously they are going to need maintenance once in a while...How many of the washers and dryers at the Laundry matt have "out of order signs"? Grow up!! I notice the other reply says you should move to a 55 and over community...Don't know your age, but you sound awfully childish to me!! |

Good Luck! And please remember the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side! You should seriously consider looking for a 55 and over community! I find your entire review hard to believe and see it to be nothing more than a release of aggrivation due to other deeply rooted personal issues!
