Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
My roommate and I moved in January of 2006. The beginning experience with the General Manager was an indicator of the things to come. I'm not sure which one was worse, her ill-mannered disposition or the unwarrented "Scolding" that I recieved for ASSUMING that she had reserved an apartment for my roommate and I. (This was after the application was set, the deposit was paid and everything was approved)
The apartment themselves are spacious, however they were pounded by the hurricanes 2 years ago. They had to rebuild them. Needless to say that came with many many problems.
The washer water tube wasn't installed....at all. I did laundry. The washing cycle went smooth so I walked away. It was when I heard water on tile that I ran to the room to find it half under water. I couldn't stop the water from draining. All I could do was move the washer as fast as possible and hold the tube to the wall. By then my roommate's room was half under 10 gallons of water. It's a good thing I had a carpet cleaner. It took us 4 hours to suck all the water out. It took maintenance 3 days to bring a huge fan to dry the carpet and wall.
We were the first to live in this particular building since the reconstruction. So imagine our surprise when our bathroom flooded from the ceiling 4 weeks into the move. Apparently, people had moved in upstairs and their water piping wasn't set correctly and my roommate found ourselves underwater...again. This happend on a Friday. Since maintenance doesnt work on weekends...there was a hole in the ceiling for 4 days before they got to it.
We thought the worst was over. Had to be. We were mistaken.
About a month after our aquatic adventures the airconditioner started leaking. I reported it. Someone came, tweaked it and it stopped for a whole day. Again it started leaking. I reported it, again. While waiting for maintenance to arrive (another 4 days) my roommate came to me advising me that her carpet was still wet. Impossible, I thought. We dried it all....
The aircondionting was leaking through the walls and soaking the carpet. More water vaccuming.
Air conditioner broke down July for SEVEN days. It was only blowing out hot air. I reported it on Thurdsday. Someone came on Friday while i was at work, did NOT fix it. There was no way to get a hold of ANYONE during the weekend (we were not provided with an 'emergency' number). Monday came and still no one came. Tuedsay...no one.
I'm sure you're all wondering why I didn't say something monday. I work 10 hour shifts at Lake Mary that Start from 9:30am - 8:30pm. The office does not open until 9 and closes at 5 promptly. It wasn't until, Wed, my day off, that I could march up to the front office first thing in the morning to give hell...only to find, as I opened the door to go...the maintenance guy at the front door ready to fix my air.
The walls are thin. I can hear my neighbors upstairs walking, talking....I actually thing they LOVE to rearrange furniture. That or they have a poltergeist that constantly moves heavy objects around the floor.
Neighbors are constantly having parties on weekends that last from 8pm - 7:30am the next morning. They dont care if you hear their drunken singing or dancing to, sometimes horrible, mariachi music.
The apartments are cheap but you get what you pay for. I will not be renewing my lease January.
I warn you. Find some place else to live. This place is not worth it. Still don't believe me' That's fine. Go have a visit with the general manager. Make up your mind then.
