I have lived here for over a year. I would not have re-signed the lease after the first year, as they raised my rent, but I had to stick it out for personal reasons and at the time the apartment didn't seem to be that bad. In the last six months roaches have invaded my house. I told maintenence and they supposedly came and sprayed for roaches, but the problem has not lessened. Things are constantly breaking--plumbing and a/c mostly--and the staff is slow at addressing the problem and when they finally do, they don't fix anything correctly. Recently, there has also been a lot of disturbing incidents of violence. First, there was a man shot in the head (his girlfriend was also shot in the leg) in the complex behind mine. Then, shortly afterwards, a friend of mine found her cat with its throat cut outside of my bedroom window. There are also over a dozen stray cats living in the complex who spray all over the place--and the other residents feed them. I do not feel safe here and I feel as though I have been treated disrespectfully by the staff. They even sent me an eviction notice once for not paying rent when THEY had lost the check, later I received another eviction notice because I had a blue curtain hanging on my back door (which had no covering to begin with, so that anyone could see in).
I have never lived anywhere so terrible in my life. I feel like I have been in prison for the last six months--except prison would probably have less of a roach problem.
