The Last Place On Earth I Would Live Again
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 11/2/2008
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Before moving in, I thought Woodbridge would be a great place to live. Cable, water, and sewer are included in the rent and it's fairly cheap and close to UCF and Full Sail. However, my problems with the apartment began on move in day. The apartment was not ready. The carpet cleaner arrived when I did to move in, which meant I could not move my stuff into carpeted areas for at least 8 hours. The front porch had just been painted, so there was no way to even get in the apartment. The maintenance had to put cardboard over the porch, so my movers could continue. The living situation just went down hill from there. My sliding glass door would not work, because there was so much water damage that the frame had actually cracked leaving a huge slit up my wall. Because the door could not keep moisture out, I began to have mold issues. It took several calls to the office (including heated conversations) for them to finally come and fix the door. They didn't even fix it correctly and the mold issue just got worse from there because the proper precautions were not taken to prevent the spread of spores. I, along with my roomate, ended up having health problems due to the mold. This entire sliding door process and health problems pursued for several months. Construction was promised to be coming and that would fix the mold issues. However, construction never came. The worst issue was when I woke up to what sounded like rain and it was water pouring through the bathroom fan like a faucet. My entire kitchen and roomate's bathroom was under several inches of water. It was also leaking through the ceiling in the kitchen as well as the kitchen light (tell me how that's safe). I called maintenance immediately and they shut the leak off upstairs. However, so much water had been leaking for such a long time before it broke through my roof that it continued to leak for over 3 days. I was told that they did not have any towels or anything for me to use and I would have to use my own towels to keep the water under control. Mind you, the water was brown and smelled awful. Before they ever fixed it, part of my ceiling fell onto the floor. The guy finally came to fix it and all he did was paint right over everything. We ended up getting more mold and the leak still persisted, so he had to come back and cut out the ceiling and do the dry wall all over (how he should have the first time). A few weeks later, people moved in above us and when they turned the water on the leak happened all over again. We found out the leak upstairs had never been fixed, it had only been shut off. So, we had to have the guy come back out and do dry wall again because of all the water damage and mold. All in all, this place was a nightmare. The residents are nice and were never a problem. However, the staff, including the manager and the maintenance were such a hassle to deal with. The maintenance was nice when they finally came out to fix the problem, but the problem usually took 2-3 times to fix because "quick" fixes were tried first instead of fixing it properly. We had mold issues the entire year and even started having roach issues near the end because our apartment was such a "wonderful" environment for them (always damp). I couldn't wait to get out of there and never plan on going back.
