Seville does not value its loyal tenants

I have been at this apartment complex for over two years. My husband and I first started paying $865/month not including utilities for the first year for a small 1 bedroom unit. The place was quiet, the apartment staff was friendly, and the location was right. However, the following year they raised our rent to $905/month. We continued to stay at Seville for convenience. However, over the past year, my husband and I continually saw very low rates being offered to new tenants on Craigslist while we were paying over $100 more each month as loyal tenants. So when it came time to renew our lease, we obviously assumed that we would be offered the same low rates as new tenants. Unfortunately, Seville does not care about its current tenants who are quiet and pay their rent on time. The office staff blatantly informed us that they could not offer us the same prices as incoming tenants. So while they offer the exact same size apartment online as ours for only $780/month, they refuse to offer this same price to tenants already living there. Although they did offer me half-off my first month's rent (equal to approximately $450), they offer new tenants apartments for approximatley $100 cheaper each month (approximatley $1200 over the course of a year). Hmmmm....$1200 vs. $450. Way to value your loyal tenants, Seville! Sadly, I signed a notice to vacate today. I enjoyed the place while I was there, but I am not one to continue giving my business to a company that does not value its customers. If you want a nice quiet apartment for just one year...Seville is a great place. However, if you think you might end up staying any longer, look elsewhere.

I tend to agree with you. I feel I was treated better by the previous management than the current one. At the time of my first renewal, we actually got a decrease due to the constant noise & neighbor problems we had the first year. We were actually negotiating for an upgrade to a 3 bedroom apt, but then the manager had to leave. After talking with the current manager, we got a cold feeling and felt that negotiation would not be possible. When asked how the upgrade works, we were told to either wait unitl our lease is up or pay a $1000 fee to upgrade during our lease as well as pay almost $1300 for the rent. She said that a letter could be written to Corporate to get the fee waived, but the tone in her voice basically said "I am not gonna bother doing that". I felt highly insulted. As with you, I am a good tenant, and pay my rent on time, and report issues as needed. To be charged an outragous fee like that and not have my tenant history taken into consideration was insulting. From this experience and from what you say, I agree that it is unfair that we steady tenants should have to pick up the slack for the discounted rental rates for new-comers. Extremely unfair! I am currently saving up so I can move to another place...hopefully a rental home because I am done with apartment living. I have only lived in one place where the management cared about their tenants and it is not here...at least not any more. I wish the previous property manager would come back...she at least seemed to care.

i have lived here for over 3 years and i cant begin to tell you how UNhelpful this place is. the constant sound of LOUD BASS pounding on my walls making my pictures and other things fall is beyond rude. I am living in complete hell for 1050 per month. Cant wait to get out. Good luck to the both of you.
