I didn't have the 'privilege' of moving in. I applied for an apartment and provided a security deposit to hold my apartment while the checks were performed. Over the weekend after we applied, our circumstances changed and we no longer needed the apartment. I called to get my security deposit refunded and was told I forfeited it after 72 hours. The leasing agent assured me, at the time I turned in my paperwork, that deposit is fully refundable mentioning nothing about 72 hours. However after speaking with the Property Manager, I was told they will not refund the money because the clause is in the agreement I signed with my paperwork. This is NO WAY to do business. They have one agent saying (or not saying in this case) one thing then come back to bite you with it when it benefits them. Had I known my deposit was non-refundable if my circumstances changes and/or after 72 hours, I would have 'risked' not securing the apartment and saved $150.00.
