Don't bother

After relocating to ATL from Texas I assumed that I was going to be in a very nice community that had good staff from the other options I had seen in the area. Boy was I wrong. I just started my lease in September and it has been nothing but hell ever since.
I drove 12 hours to arrive 20 minutes late to the office. I called several times to see if there was a way they could release my key to my manager, have him sign the papers, fax me the papers, anything since I knew I would not make it in time.. They refused. I sped through Atlanta rush hour traffic on a Friday and arrived at 6:19pm. Needless to say everything was shut down and I had to get a hotel room. There went $66.67.
Once I got there, they refused to let me unpack any of my stuff until I wrote them a check for the prorated rent. No problem, except for my checkbook was halfway in the back of my moving truck. Why wouldn??t my deposit suffice for all of one day' its not like I was going anywhere...
I move in and I have no washer and dryer (specifically checked several times to ensure I would have one). When I finally got my washer and dryer delivered 4 days later, it was the nastiest machine I had ever seen. I ran two loads with nothing but bleach, and then I had to take an SOS pad to the inside of the washing machine for the dirt ring from use. The dryer takes twice as long to dry as any dryer should. Still waiting on getting that fixed.
The apartment complex touts themselves as "luxury," but it is no better than a standard apartment complex, aside from the high ceilings. Cheap brass chandelier in the dining room, horribly manufactured cabinets in the kitchen (not cleaned of course), the "mirror accents" in the kitchen were sloppily arranged, the hard wood floors were coming apart.
The website touts "Custom Colored Walls." Mine were standard apartment white. If you look at the pictures on their website, think white walls, white ceiling and off-white carpet. The counter tops are not faux-marble, they are your standard apartment counters. My closet doorknobs were falling off, my water sprinkler system in my bedroom was leaking.
Lets not forget the BUGS. I had roaches like no other when I first moved in. Let me say there is nothing worse than waking up at 230 in the morning with a cockroach scurrying across your head. Thankfully I don??t have that issue anymore now that it is cold outside.
I just got my kitchen unpacked and I discovered that my stove doesn??t fully work. The two large elements on the stove top do not work at all. I will be reporting that today and see how long it takes to get repaired.
I had my second rent check bounce because I had to close my bank account due to fraud. My first set of checks were lost in the mail, so I had to close out my account immediately. When I knew that my check was going to bounce, I immediately took a cashiers check for the amount of rent to the office and explained the situation (before they even received the check back). They told me that due to the special circumstances there would be no fees involved. Nope, they were wrong! 3 days later I got a notice on my door that said I owed $145. $110 for a late fee and $35 for a bounced check fee. I immediately took it down to the office and ask what this was all about because of my previous conversation. Of course the business manager was out, and she had to take my number. She called midway through the afternoon the next day and said that I would have to have a letter from my bank stating my account was closed for fraud. I told her that would not be a problem, but this was a few days before Thanksgiving, so I would not be going to my bank for a while. She said that I have 2 weeks to get it in to her. I told her that I should not have to since I was not originally told this.
I moved in the middle of September and it is now the end of November. I am seriously considering breaking my lease because of lackluster customer service, and failure to meet minimum expectations. If you can avoid this place, DO SO!

Everything you are complaining about are rules that management has to follow. Why should you get to move in without paying your move in fees because you were dumb enough to pack your checkbook in the back of a moving truck DUH...who does that??? Someone who is trying to get out of paying thats who!!! Why should this complex let you get away with everything? You said you have been there since September and you have already bounced 2 rent checks??? You don't sound very deserving of even living there. You seem like an Idiot.

Um, no I had one check that bounced because I had to close the account. The order of checks for my new bank account got lost in the mail. The reason that my checks were in a box in the back of my truck is because I rarely write checks. I paid my mortgage and all bills online in Texas and hadn't written a check in months. They had been packed in my office box since the middle of this summer. |
