Archstone Windward formerly AMLI at Windward Park

Nice, quiet and in the best neighborhood of Alpharetta.

Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2001
I lived here for quite a long time. This place is very nice and the location feels almost exclusive as it borders one of the Nation?s most exclusive private golf courses, hence the street address: "Masters" Way. I?ve heard that membership costs $20,000 per year, and that?s only if you are invited to join so I don?t recommend using the fairways for Frisbee! Anyway, the buildings at Windward Park are spaced out so you don?t feel as ?closed-in? as with most area complexes. I should also mention that this complex has a strict ?pick-up your dog?s poo? policy.
The apartments have near-white ?berber? carpeting, so beware! It may be dirty when you move in. Chem-cleaning was the only thing that finally got my carpets clean. The exterior of this complex is done in a light-colored ?Tudor? style. Track lighting is used in the kitchen and dining room and the units have BIG crown moldings in the entry/living room. The kitchen has full-sized (not apartment-sized) dishwashers, which are rare. Also, the bathrooms are oversized.
One odd thing about this AMLI is that it has more than it?s fair share of power outages, or at least some of the buildings do. The buildings to the north of the leasing office and those bordering the golf course get power from a separate utility grid as explained to me by Georgia Power. These poorly powered buildings get their electricity from the ?end-of-the-line? of a power grid that offers no alternate electricity sources. The buildings around the pool and those bordering the surrounding streets are on the "Windward Parkway" power grid, which is one of the most reliable in the country. It was frustrating to be without power as often as I was. Especially when units across the parking lot from me did not loose their power! I was always resetting my VCR but, the seclusion of this complex was worth it. I just kept a wind-up alarm clock handy:)
Alas, I moved away from this AMLI and into an older place called ?Wood Bridge? Apartments, which is also located in Alpharetta. I moved to save a few $$ and now wish I had not. 'Wood Bridge' is run down and the staff is rude, misleading and conniving.
This AMLI is overall, the best of all apartment complexes found in the GA-400, exit 10 and 11 vicinity. I Hope my ramblings help in your decision!
