Hello To ALL:
I would like to say that we rented from Collingwood several years ago and it really was a bad experience for me as well as for others. This morning I received an email concerning a new review and I read some beautiful reviews and I just pray that its not Collingwood staff writing in again. People really do use this site to decide whether to rent or not. I only wish that we had found it before we moved in! The average person cannnot afford to move in a apartment then leave(before the lease is up) once you find out that the staff will say whatever is nesessary to get you to move in.
My neighbors moved and were complaining about the overfilleed trash bins being a eyesore and other issues and even after complaining to the manager their problems continued! I did not leave, the trash was a huge problem but I did not have any maintenance problems or conflicts with staff at the time, beside we had just moved in.I waved goodbye as they moved out and they warned my husband and I to be careful.
Shortly therafter, all hell broke out and I wish that I had never moved in! The apartments are old and do require a lot of maintenance. If you are chummy with the staff then your problems are solved quickly but if you are not then you are put on their waitng list and you wait and wait and wait.....
Collingwood does use a majority of uneducated foreigners that bearly speak English, however, they can get these workers for very cheap! Therefore their labor is cheap! Most are illegally in this country! For Christ Sake's my neighbor openly told me that he did not have his green card. Be careful some of my neighbors also had a record. Felons are your neighbors. My husband works for the bachgroung screening industry and we started doing our all checking. Yes, your neighbors are criminals ....not all but some! Collingwood does not do background checks so that's why cars are being stolen, vandalized,etc...
Just be careful people. I have since moved and we bought a 5 bedroom pool home. I wish you all well in your searches! bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC

In 2007 it wasn't as bad as you describe. They hired new maintenance staff and they are decent and pleasant and helpful. Not everyone experiences the environment in the same way. Every complex has issues to some degree. The complexes in this area are aging, have been built in the late 1990's. THE MECHANICAL NOISE and THE SMALL LIVING ENVIRONMENT is what drives some people out of the complex. Other than that, trash overflow wasn't an issue. Crime wasn't an issue, although it happens and can happen anywhere, even in subdivisions. The location is good; the environment is clean. YOU decide if the environment is good for YOU. If it isn't compatible with your personal needs, don't move in. Personally, the best place I've found is not far from COLLINGWOOD - try ALARA.
