Save yourself time and stab yourself in the eye with a spoon

I want to relay the positives first: The actual apartments here are in excellent condition. The appliances are up to date, and if you ever do have a problem, the maintenance staff is very prompt, courteous, and effective. On top of that, the property manager is actually very pleasant and easy to work with.
Now that the positives are out of the way, I must warn you: if you ever have to deal with the office staff, you should be prepared to be disappointed. If you keep your expectations low enough, you just might be only slightly depressed when you walk out of the office.
You would probably by more successful at winning the Indy 500 with a tricycle than trying to get any level of customer service from this office staff. It appears that the general attitude at the office is that residents are mentally challenged scum who can not be trusted, will break every rule that they can, and certainly do not deserve even an ounce of respect. They will look down their nose at you without even the slightest bit of irony that they make their living by answering phones.
When you call and they do not answer, which they never do, you get transferred to an answering machine. Please do not be fooled into thinking that this is an actual answering machine. I do not think it records, and if it does, it is not listened to. If these two steps miraculously work, then the step where someone calls you back is never taken. You must physically go to the office and try to find someone there. If you do actually get a member of the staff, there is never a problem that they are even involved in, let alone for which they are responsible. I have been accused of not paying rent 5 times in a little over a year here. All five times were office accounting errors where my rent was credited to another unit. However, proving that is your responsibility. Even when you show them a copy of your deposited check, they still doubt you and then reluctantly chalk it up to a ??computer error??.
If you ever get elevated to the manager, you can tell that it is not her fault, she simply has no control over her staff. She is wonderful to deal with and will resolve any issues that you might have. Unfortunately, this wizard has the wicked witch of the west instead of the people of Oz guarding the gate.
