Unfortunately...

Unfortunately, I was one of the reviewers in the previous reviews about what a wonderful place the Preserve is. Well, that was a couple months ago, and now I have to take all of that back. I was the fifth person to move into the complex. I transferred around, and ultimately lived in three units - all beautiful. I have since moved out, because I bought a house. I enjoyed my time living there. Yeah, there were problems, but I didn't nitpick the management about it. Big mistake. I should have been one of those horrible tenants that call the manager at every drop of a hat, because I am sure that those are the only ones given any consideration. Two weeks before we moved out, we started seeing snakes in our apartment. Inside our apartment, not outside. Inside with people and pets. My husband unknowingly stepped on one when he walked into the kitchen one night with the lights out. It bit him, and luckily he's okay. It was only a baby snake, but since it wasn't the first one we had seen, we determined that the mama snake had hatched there. Our apartment was on the very bottom by the swamp, and it wasn't right from the beginning. We called management about the snake, mostly out of concern for the new people who move in. They laughed at me. Which infuriated me. A couple days later, we go to do our walk through for the move out. Well, they are charging us to replace the entire carpet in the apartment because of several stains. We consider stains to be normal wear and tear. Especially since the carpet is cheap and has no stain treating chemicals on it. We spent lots of money trying to remove the stains, with no luck, but had spoken with several other tenants, and they had stains, too. It's very hard to live somewhere so small (one bedroom apt) and expect not to ever spill something after a year and a half of living somewhere. Now, they want to tell us that it will be $750.00 to replace the carpet. I don't think so. We had stains on the last two carpets from the last two apartments that we lived in there, and we weren't charged anything. Funny how that happens when we are still giving them money. So, I bring up all this stuff from two years of living in the complex, and they tell me that I should have submitted it in writing. Well, my thing is that when I called about the kids shooting bebe guns off the balcony, I didn't want my name attached to that. I just wanted the management aware of it. I didn't want a file with every complaint listed nitpicking everytime my upstairs neighbor coughed too loud. They charged us for not cleaning the oven well enough. They basically made it very clear that since we are moving out, they don't need to be nice to us anymore. I think that they have lost sight of what they are there for. I was very emotional about leaving the Preserve. Like I said, I loved it there, and enjoyed my neighbors and my apartment (snakes aside), and they turned it into a place that I loathe, now. I made that place my home for over two years, and they ruined that for me by nitpicking and charging too much for normal wear and tear. We were clean people, and didn't even wear our shoes past the entry way, and for them to make it seem like we left that place unlivable doesn't seem right. Not to mention that the snakes in the apartment make it way more unlivable to me! Beware future tenants - this place seems so wonderful, but it's really a horrible place. I urge all of you to not renew your lease, and to look elsewhere, where you may still have the same problems, but may find a company not so concerned with themselves as they are with their tenants. Oh, and way to go Preserve for building Phase Two so quickly - makes it a whole lot easier to see why we in phase one have been having such a hard time with the quality. You can't build that fast, and expect a good place to live. I am not sure who they think they are fooling anymore by pretending to be. I am with "Run the other way". Do not try to make Preserve a home, they will take that away from you so fast, it would seem like you had a conversation with two different people!
