good for a first apartment

I thought Abbey West was a great first apartment for an undergrad coming straight from the dorms. It's well lit (there's flood lights everywhere), you're close enough to your neighbors so that you know them, and overall i felt very safe.
I never had a problem with the noise, but i lived in the buildings in the back and up the hill. I can see how if you were living in the lower area there might be noise issues.
The community is sort of cheesy and manufactured, but is nice to have the pool, volleyball court, etc. in the summer. Some of the office people do know what they're talking about and others are just kids and that can be annoying. I never had a problem with them saying my rent was not paid, but i walked in everytime to hand it to someone and it always had my apartment number on it. So i don't know if that helped or if i just got lucky.
we lived on the top floor so we had vaulted ceilings and there was lots of space with four bedrooms and four baths. The distance from campus and downtown was annoying though.
Anyway, i would tell a friend to live at abbey west if this were their first apartment, but i would definitely not recommend it for a grad student.
