I really don't even know where to start. The place looks nice, but that is really as far as it goes. Even though, they have a computer lab, free bus system, pool, etc. First off, it is very loud around here. I understand it's a party town but when in the world do these people study' The average age is about 18-21. Don't even think about using their roommate matching service. I was given a guy, someone 8 yrs younger than me(and fresh out of high school) and 3 other girls (when I signed a 2 bedroom lease agreement) I went with the girl that is 8 yrs younger than me.
The office, I don't even want to get started on the office. They're all idiots. I have called several times to ask them how to turn off the alarm and they don't even know how to do it. They take way too long to do anything maintenance related. People also constantly put their trash outside their door, or by the steps or outside SOMEONE ELSE'S door. I'm dealing with this now because we keep getting trash notice fees when its not us, it's everyone else around us putting their trash outside. Also, I don't know who the bright one is that build this place was, but the mailboxes are right beside the gate and there's never anywhere to park to go grab your mail. And people drive through the gate so fast that they're likely to hit you. If you don't already live in Athens and have a LOCAL 706 area code, then you have no way of letting your friends in the gate unless it's office hrs and then they just call the office. Otherwise, your friend has to break the gate or you have to get in your car and go let them in. They don't tell you any of this stuff when you sign your lease. Someone else mentioned the gate always being a hassle. It is a hassle when it is fixed. It's always broken so that's actually a good thing living here. The arm WILL come down on your car even you have put your card in front of the keypad and it beeps. And the manager doesn't have the common courtesy to even call you back about problems or concerns that you have.
If you have your own furniture, you're going to be upstairs. One of the morons in the office had the audacity to tell me that I was asking too much because I had dogs, wanted a roommate around my age and wanted a downstairs apt. This place is treated more like a dorm than a apt. They get you in the lease for a year and then you're just stuck! There's a lot of nice places in Athens, I just didn't know better when I moved here. Go somewhere else cause you probably won't like it.

While we always strive to keep everyone happy, we do occassionally have issues. First off, the Athens area in general has many residents that are in the 18-21 age range due to the colleges in the area. We have a broad range of people that live in our apartments because the Fair Housing laws prevent us from descrimating based on age. As for the roommate matching, we give many incentives for you to attempt to find your own roommate, however, many people trust in our roommate matching service. This resident was given several profile sheets, but refused to call and speak to any of the potential residents. We also offered to move her to a cheaper apartment with the guarantee that she would only have one more roommate, but she refused. This resident spoke to and approved of the roommate she is living with so maybe she didn't do such a great job asking her potential roommate questions that she thought would count. Furthermore, the living situation cannot be that bad because this resident has never brought this issue to our attention. We have invited this resident to all of our functions and have been met with constant negativity despite our inviting attitude. As for the alarm, every member of the staff knows how to work these. This is also explained to the residents on move-in day. Furthermore, when this resident brought her alarm issues to the office, we immediately sent our maintenance staff to her apartment to push the one button that the solution required. As for the trash, we personally went through this bag of trash to determine whose trash was left. We actually found a piece of this resident's mail in the trash can. Instead of calling the office to get more information, she took the trash notice and placed it on her neighbors door - probably not the most mature way to handle the situation. I have lived on the property for 4 years and absolutely love it!

I am the person that made this post. Wow, you responded quick. I feel sorry for you that you have worked here for 4 yrs. Maybe it was better a few yrs back but you guys don't tell people ANYTHING when they sign a lease. I guess you would love it cause you people are lazy in the office and don't communicate well.First off, You lied about a few of the things you said. And I don't have the time or the patience to call and deal with you people. You have been a problem before I even moved in. I told Ashley (I think is her name) that you need to tell people that you don't send out profiles for the roommate matching, to each person. In other words, my roommate never got a profile from me, so I felt like a idiot when I found that out, a week before we moved in together/and the fact that you told me "we don't always get we want" and that I was being "picky" I was never picky. I knew we couldn't choose what building we were in from the beginning, but again, I found out a week before we moved in that I didn't even have the option of what floor I was on. I have a lot of furniture and the guys that helped weren't happy carrying it up your stairs. You NEVER said anything about this when I signed the lease back in March. And Ashley told me she agreed that the roommate matching service is useless and doesn't work very well. When you gave me profiles, you gave me a guy which I said, "no" from the start. Then you gave me my roommate now, and then you tried to move me in with 2 other girls telling me another one would probably come in in January. No, I don't want to live with 3 people. I would have considered that an absolute nightmare and this isn't a dorm. You need to inform people of that, that you treat it like one.Best of all, you sent me someone that said on her profile "NO PETS" I had to laugh at that one cause you don't even pay attention. And I have 2 dogs.AND I had to tell you that several times before I moved in. So, I decided to find my own roommate but then you told me that I couldn't cause it was about a month until movein time. How can you tell someone that they can't find a roommate if they think you're roommate matching sucks? It was a bad idea to move here from the start but I signed my lease back in March so i was stuck from the beginning then the longer I was here, the more crap i found out. Also, the bags that were outside, they were outside for several days. First they were at the top of the first set of steps, then they were at the bottom of the 2nd (by our door) They were not mine. I don't know how you found something that had my mail in there because I always take the trash out or put it INSIDE the door, not outside like everyone else around here. I see trash outside from my neighbors door, all the time, and never see them get fined. Leave me alone and you will have no problems with me. But I still think you guys don't know what you're doing in the office. My roommate agrees with me, is she wrong too? how about all the other "negative" people that have posted here? How about my parents? I called several times about the alarm and was told to do something and it did nothing. The maintenance guys came in here and unplugged the alarm system. Was I supposed to know how to do that? Now, change your comment from above and I was erase mine. Good day!

The original response to this review is typical of what this complex thinks of you. The fact that they would get on here and respond anonymously is indicative of their tactics. If there was a response necessary to this review, it should have been under the name Abbey West and be no one other than the manager. If the staff can tell who this person is, and obviously they do, the manager should have contacted this resident personally. I know this person who left the review because I have seen some, and heard of all of these problems first hand. The room mate choices were anything but a match, in fact, they were incompatible for obvious reasons. It took three times of telling them she had pets before they said 'oh'. It was on the application the whole time. After she was told she was being 'picky' on her apartment, she was finally told that you cant get an unfurnished apartment on the bottom floor. Ohhhh! Now it makes sense! So if you have your own furniture, forget living on the bottom floor. If they told you that to begin with, it would help a lot. It doesnt make sense to have furnished apartments on the bottom floor when the residents are going to be the only ones moving furniture. Why not make the top floors furnished since it doesnt have to be moved around?? Why would someone call a potential roommate if their information looks incompatible? Her roommate never even got a copy of her roommate application and had no idea who she was rooming with, or with pets. Letting the staff know of a room mate situation is a last ditch effort to fix something in order to keep peace. Thats best worked out between the room mates, so I think not saying anything to the complex is the more 'mature' decision for now. The smoke detector battery has been dead for weeks. They were notified when it first started beeping and they dont care about replacing it. If everyone on the staff knows how to disable the annoyingly loud alarm, why did it take multiple calls to get it turned off? Why didnt they replace the smoke alarm battery when they so easily disabled the alarm? One girl said simply 'just unplug it'. Right. One button my azz. I tried everything to get rid of the loud beep that happens when you open any door. The staff member who responded said it took one button to fix the problem, yet they had to completely disconnect the system before it fixed the problem. The 'constant negativity' this staff person mentioned is in response one comment about a Disney character themed Halloween party? Very mature, and very constant. :\ At least there will be tons of beer and kegs at the Halloween party seeing how they promoted their chugging contests at the move-in party to their "many residents that are in the 18-21 age range". The mail in the trash is a complete lie. There was trash outside 3 of the apartments on this floor this weekend. It stayed outside her neighbor's unit both Saturday and Sunday. Then, she gets the fine for a bag of trash sitting on the STAIRS. Please, bring this evidence of mail in the trash bag to the unit it belongs to. She put the notice on the correct door since trash was outside their unit all weekend. And this isnt the first time its happened, hence no phone call to the complex. The gate is constantly broken because you have to have a local 706 number to let someone in. In this day and age, they should be able to have any number. The last three complexes I have been in will take any number. Even cell phones, which makes it easy to let yourself in if you dont have your card, or someone else if you arent home. That would save a lot of broken gates. A lot of complexes have a trash pickup service as well. It seems a complex so catered to 18-21yr old students would include that. I love how this person who originally responded absolutely loves their unit. Im sure everything is great when you're part of the staff! Just look at the rest of the reviews on this complex. They say it all. The few positive ones are by anonymous, just like this response. Makes you wonder if the good reviews they have are created by the staff members themselves! Now that you see these girls in the office like to take things personally and react, I guess the room mates of this unit get to worry about these staff members having access to their rooms. Looks like this is going to corporate really soon. Stay tuned...

It is because of management that act like 18 year olds and do not resolve the problems properly that make this place very inadequate. The management's response to this review is very unprofessional and very immature. This surely will also head to corporate from me. Future prospects, if you want an enjoyable year, stay away from this complex at least until they change management.

I work in the property management industry in another state. I used to live in athens, and occasionally look at these reviews to see how other people in my industry are doing. I have to say, I am horrified to see that a member of this staff got on here and posted the response that she did. That is not very professional at all. It seems to me that the residents are correct in stating that they need new management. I hope you guys do send this to their corporate office, and good luck.
