Eh...could do better, could do worse

We moved from Atlanta, so were excited about the price. As UGA grad students, we liked the location. The apartment is nice enough, but I do think we're probably overpaying compared to other apartments in Athens.

The biggest problem we've had has been noise from our neighbors and the leasing office not being willing to fix it. For the entire course of our neighbor's 9 month lease, we've been complaining about their stereo. 13 calls to the noise number. 6 visits to the leasing office. 3 in-home visits from office staff. While the staff seemed very willing to send threatening letters to them, they weren't willing to actually follow through with the threats. On three different times, we were told our neighbors were "one complaint away from being evicted"...and after three separate compalints, they're still here! I'm not talking about little noises you hear in apartments - I'm talking about a stereo you can here in the next room over your own television. A stereo you can hear throughout your entire apartment at 3 in the morning. Ridiculous!

The gates are finicky - they're either stuck open or stuck closed. I don't know how many times I've had to run to the gate to let in friends or delivery people! The gym is here, but it has very little equipment. The pool has too few chairs during the summer, and it's not always clean. Regardless of how many times the leasing office sends out letters to pick up after your pet, there always seems to be poop all over the place (part of the problem is not always having the bags available!).

Parking is fine. You may not be right in front of your building, but it's not as if you'll be on the other side of the complex. The complex is extremely well lit at night (I had to put up two sets of drapes to block the light into the bedroom!), and I've never felt unsafe. There's petty crime everywhere, so I'm not surprised if cars are broken into. The murder here was a dispute between two people who knew each other - NOT a home invasion.

The complex is very pet friendly, which is a huge plus for us. I would have thought that the high price would have kept the undergrads away, but it hasn't (see above complaints about noise). The complex is very sororitastic and fratastic.

If you're gonna live here, be prepared for a lot of undergrads who don't understand that some people have normal schedules and are noisy at all hours of the night. Lots of big dogs, so lots of barking is possible.
