Clarification

This is in response to some of the comments posted prior to mine.
1) I've always found the maintenance staff to be prompt and efficient. Some of them are a bit weird, but everyone's got quirks, right'
2) Cockroaches: You live in the south, and you live in an apartment. You're going to have them. Keep your place clean if you want to reduce the amount.
3) As for noise -- I seldom had a problem or felt disturbed. Honestly, birds were the most annoying thing to me, and most people find birds charming. I dont happen to be one.
4) Parking is great. Sometimes you will have to park a ways from your apartment, but that's the price you pay when you live in a place that doesn't tow.
5) The rent is pretty good -- I paid $635 for a two bedroom compared to $820 when I lived in FL.
6) I will agree, the staff at times seem a bit blase, but most apartments i've lived in have always been this way.
7) My apartment wasn't cleaned (thoroughly) before I moved in, and the rugs werent stain cleaned, which did suck. However, I moved in at an odd time, so perhaps when the other apartments in my complex were getting steam cleanings, mine would have had I not moved in before this.
8) To summarize, is UC perfect' No. Is it average' I'd say that it is slightly above average, particularly if you're a grad student. I really dont know many of my neighbors, but they dont bother me and I dont bother them. In short, I agree with the guy who said, if you hate dealing with noise, good luck finding a place in a college town where youre not disturbed from at least time to time.
