Me and my roommate moved in my senior year and from the beginning we had difficulties with the owners and staff. First, I had to get my mom's signature as a co-sign since I was a student and they wrote my mom's fax number down wrong for her to sign everything and thus we lost the original apartment we had. The only reason we found out was we called to check on the status and they told us they couldn't get through to my mom. No phone call or anything, and we had already paid our deposit. Luckily, we were able to get into another apartment after being told we were on the "waiting list" and would most likely get a place. This was in May, so we really needed something certain since our lease was almost up, but luckily they found another one for us. While living there, it would take us days before they would contact us back if we had a question and, no matter how friendly we were, they would act like we were imposing. I moved out before my roommate because she stayed in Athens another year after we graduated, so me and my mom went to sign everything to give the lease over to my roommate, and they told us I would receive my portion of the deposit once my roommate moved out. Now, they've told my roommate that I waived my rights to the deposit when I left, so my portion of the deposit was kept by the apartment complex, and she only got $75 because of a scratch on the door that was there before we moved in. I enjoyed the actual apartment and had no issues with the complex, but unless you're willing to deal with these kinds of owners, I wouldn't suggest going through the trouble. There are plenty of other great apartment complexes in Athens without having to deal with this.
