We moved in to to our renovated 2BR Aug 2005 - happy to have a large, clean, newish apartment as our first home as husband and wife. Things were up and down that first year, we had mice (finally trapped three that had been running loose in our building for almost two weeks), roaches and some noise issues. One apt moved out in the middle of the night and the roaches and noise issues disappeared. The maintenance problems were fixed relatively quickly, and when it came time to renew in May, we thought it wouldn't be too bad for the next year. Then came the rent raise, the price switch-a-roo, then all the nice, quiet neighbors moved out...and we regretted our decision to stay for the entire next year. Management changed, and nothing was getting fixed. The floor in the masterbath was installed wrong, and the tile was unglued and sharp, actually cutting our feet if we walked on it. Long exposed nails kept popping up, and when we did a walk-through, they were shocked at the condition of the bathroom and promised to fix it. We moved out a year later, and the bathroom was never fixed, even though I put in a request at least on a monthly basis. The new neighbors were sketchy, yelling and screaming all night - actually had the police called on them more than once, and they ended up with a date in court. Other neighbors were scary, one sitting watch out front, while groups of men walked around back to do whatever business was being done. It got to the point that I was afraid to go out to walk the dog by myself. Only good thing - we got our entire deposit back - and we didn't clean the carpet, and our dog had had more than once accident in the place - plus much wear on the carpet. For the price they are now charging, you can do MUCH better in Athens. The space is nice, but unless things are chaning this fall, its not a safe place to live.
