Not an all together horrible place to live, but I did feel like I was duped by management when I signed the contracts to live there. I was told that there was a $265.00 non refundable deposit, which I was alright with. What I was not alright was was that management told me that it is a security deposit so if there was any damages to my apartment that the $265 would cover it. Upon moving out, we had the normal damages that any group of 4 guys would do to an apartment after a year and next thing we know we all had damage bills that were just shy of $200. I called up the office to see if the $800 we owed was $800 total or if it was above and beyond the $1060 we had given them when we moved in. Management told me that it was total $800 and the $1060 we had given was an "administrative" fee and to let this be a lesson to show us how to take care of our apartment.
I did enjoy living there and while its old and there are much nicer apartments in Athens, the price was right and most of the people that lived there seemed cool. Just be leery of management because it is not below them to take advantage of college kids too eager to get out of the dorms to read contracts.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS "Fight" with an apartment complex on what they tell you that you owe (take pics when you move out). If it looks "normal" wear and tear==any lawyer would take your case....Counter Sue the HECK OUT OF THEM.... I lived there in the 1990's. It's PAR for the course for them to try to rip you off---they feel like they can take advantages of "Dumb students"----TRUST ME---unless you had holes in the Sheet Rock (in EVERY ROOM) the Size of a grown man---there's NO WAY IN HECK you did $1000 worth of damages...IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
