Tara Apartments

Tara has been around for 45 years and shows its age in every way. I lived there for two years and when I moved out was charged for everything under the sun. A kitchen sink leak I could not get management to fix ended up costing ME when I moved out! They said the cabinet under the sink had water damage and made me pay $118 to have it repaired. They used the threat they would turn me in to a collection agency! Your electric bill will be sky high too. Heat and air do not stay in the apartment at all. Air conditioners and heating systems are always breaking down in Tara. One summer I spent two weeks with out air. And then there were the two inch long giant cockroaches... You cannot escape them in Tara. They even swim in the pool. And on the subject of the pool, I would more realistically call it a pond. It always has green algal growth in abundance and they actually let kids swim in it. I was always amazed that the health department allowed the pool to stay open. Speaking of safety, Tara is not safe at all! The sliding glass doors in the townhouses are easy to break into...in fact, a robbery of my neighbors apartment was the final straw for me there. Break-ins are a part of life in Tara. An Athens police officer told me that Tara is the number one most broken into apartment complex on the east side. And finally, if noise is a factor for you, pass on this apartment complex. Both from rowdiness outside and paper thin walls inside. My recommendation if you are considering Tara is "pass". There are better places around Athens for the same money.
