The Paces at Woodlake is a wonderful place to live. I am a graduate student who did not want to be in the mix of the undergraduate excitement, and I definitely found the perfect place for me. The walls are incredibly thick, and I have had only two or so problems with noise in the year that I have been here. Those neighbors moved though so it has been quiet for a while now. I also have never felt like I needed to worry about how much noise I was making which is a plus.

The staff is incredible. Every time there has been some issue with the apartment, they have been quick to respond. Maintenance is always prompt, efficient, and willing to get the job done right the first time. That being said, I have had very few maintenance issues overall.

As for safety, I have never felt unsafe in the complex even as a female without a roommate. It is within a gated community, and the apartments are secluded back behind a few other neighborhood/townhome areas. The parking lot is well lit, and there is a police officer who lives in the complex who can help in case of an emergency.

While they aren't the fanciest apartments (I'd better describe them as "homey"), they do have some amenities I've found very useful. There are ceiling fans with lights in each room, and there are light fixtures everywhere else. I did not have to buy any additional lights, which is a plus. The closet space in the one bedroom is amazing, and there is a large pantry area with a washer/dryer hookup. The heating and air conditioning both work really well too. Every apartment has a balcony, and there is a community pool. The only drawback is that there is no exercise room like some of the other complexes, but with the Omni Club's being so close and having the hill and pond to walk around, I have not found myself wishing for one.

It's clear these apartments aren't brand new - there is a some wear and tear on the kitchen cabinets and appliances, but they are well kept in general. The wear and tear in no way affects the functionality of the appliances.
Pest control does come just about every other Friday (a little less often during the winter), but they're in and out in less than a minute. I personally have not had any issues with whatever chemical they use.

The location is great as well. It is within five minutes of 4 different grocery stores, very close (< 5mins) to the mall, less than a 10 min. drive to downtown/campus, five minutes from the loop, and close to a whole variety of restaurants and stores. Before I moved here, I was told not to live on the west side b/c it was "so far from everything"...I completely disagree and highly recommend living on the west side of town!

***PLEASE NOTE: The location that is marked for The Paces at Woodlake on the Apartment Ratings map is NOT correct. For some reason there is a glitch in Google maps that points to the wrong location. The correct location can be found if you Google 132 Wood Lake Dr., Athens, GA, 30606 being sure to put Wood Lake in as two words and not one. It is on the West side of town right off of Epps Bridge Parkway next to Abbey West.***

The pictures below are from the one bedroom apartment I was shown when I first visited the complex.

The only reason I'm moving out is that I am graduating and moving to a new city. Otherwise, I would stay in this apartment for a long time.
