SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES

I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This seems to be a nice place on the outside, but the employees in the leasing office are unethical and have lied to many people in this complex regarding rent agreements. I have also heard stories from very reputable sources of racist practices and other terrible business practices. I would move myself, but I have little money and am stuck with a newly signed lease. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Aside from horrible business practices, the facility needs some major work. The pool is nasty (I have seen several dogs swimming in the pool even though animals are not allowed in that area) and the chairs in the pool area are supposed to be green, but appear white from the alrge amounts of bird droppings. The clubhouse computer never works well and the exercise room is a joke. I don't think more than one machine has worked consitently the enire time I have lived here despite frequent complaints by tenants. The walls in the apartments are thin, you can hear everything. Also, the gate for the community is wide open about 75% of the time because it is always breaking down. I wonder how much of my rent check goes toward paying for a security gate that never works.
This apartment complex is a disgrace. The Steven D Bell company should seriously invenstigate the staff's business practices because there are some major violations going on here and people are beginning to talk.

WOW!! Could you over-exaggerate a little more, please??? Yes, the gates have had technical issues. Any gated community has technical issues with the gates. They are not "security" gates, as anyone could clearly walk onto the community any time they wanted to whether the gates work or not. They are "controlled access". No community will EVER guarantee your total safety and security and gates should not be taken as such. If you lived elsewhere, you would complain that they didn't have gates. Can't please everyone all of the time. Racism? Not a chance. The pool chairs are green. Old, yes, need replaced, yes. But white because they're covered in bird droppings- uhm, no. Would you rather have your apartment maintained or new pool chairs?? As for dogs in the pool- that happens when residents do not respect the community rules. Can we babysit every resident who disregards the community rules? No. If you know who they are and can describe thier dog, then something can be done about it and the resident would be reprimanded. Management cannot control the actions of others. Exercise equpiment takes a lot of money to fix. Unforseen expenses such as these sometimes are not budgeted. The amenities are a luxury. They don't have to be offered at all. Management is here to maintain the community as best as possible, but they do not rule the decisions. If you have issues with how the community is maintained, figure out who OWNS the community and complain to them. By the way- management is not obligated to give you this information and no matter where you live, is usually instructed not to give out this information. If you really want to see changes, quit complaining (because that will not get you anywhere- especially on the internet) and figure out how to contact the people who fund these changes. Sorry to say- your rent does not completely fund these changes. They mostly fund the mortgage of the property, and that goes for anywhere you might live. The management does not lie about anything, especially rent agreements. It's a little hard to lie about rent agreements, as they are right there in black and white print word for word EXACTLY what is entailed in a lease agreement. Read it. You should have a copy of it, if not, ask for one. I know the staff at Westpark (-------, ----, and ----), they are my friends and colliegues. I haven't worked at West Park Club, but I am in the industry and have been to that community. These complaints are all completely over-exaggerated. Get real, and DO something about it rather than ranting. If you live an apartment (anywhere), you are going to complain about something. WELCOME TO APARTMENT LIVING!!

First of all, I did go to those who owned the property (read the last line on my initial post) and you know what they said, "Talk to management." Go figure. Pass the blame, call me a complainer, and ignore the fact that managment is doing a crap job at Westpark. My claim about racist practices is not a joke. I am friends with a former employee who told me flat out that they witnessed discriminatory practices often, ie, telling minority individuals and families that there were no apartments available when there were several open units. This person quit because the people were so unethical. So before you go calling me an over-exaggerator you may want to talk to "your friends" (or look in the mirror) and realize that sometimes complaints are founded. And "welcome to apartment living?" Are you serious? By your definition, apartment living at Westpark entails nonworking "ammenities" or "luxuries" and an acceptable broken fence because they are costly and unexpected expenses. Can broken and unsafe exercise equipment be considered an "unexpected" expense after months of repeated complaints? How many times do you have to say you'll replace the exquipment or "we'll have someone take a look at it soon" before it becomes a flat out lie? I have lived in plenty apartments and not had any complaints. That is what apartment living should be.

I am someone who was considering moving to Westpark club and I am beginning to change my mind. Not really because of the negative reviews because that is going to happen anywhere, but because of this welcome2apartmentliving person. If you don't live in the community and you don't work in the community then how can you take it upon yourself to respond to the complaints about the community. I think management should do something about you because you are so annoying that it's stearing away potential residents. Saying that residents shouldn't have the idea that the gates are there to provide safety, which is one of the things that attracted me to Westpark Club in the first place. I am living alone and I want to feel secure and while I know that just a gate isn't going to completely stop intruders, I also feel that if it is advertised it should be provided. A gate that stays wide open doesn't qualify as a gated community. I understand that fixing and replacing things is expensive but why should residents be punished because management or owners can't budget. They should try to fix it and if they can't they should have it replaced, not just let it sit because it's too expensive. If a resident wasn't able to budget and they couldn't pay their rent because it was "too expensive" the management would take action against them so why shouldn't it go the other way. If they are not living up to their promises then the complaints people are making are deserved. You're right, they don't HAVE to offer the amminities- but they do! And people pay for them and sign a lease because of them- they should be provided or not promised at all!
I think I will keep looking after reading what you have written in response to these complaints welcome2apartmentliving. I don't want to be a part of any community that you are associated with in any way!

The staff are diverse, so I don't believe the racism claim; on the other hand, it's quite possible people were turned down to due to bad/poor credit. In addition, if all you care about is a perfectly pristine pool and "totally awesome" fitness room, then buy a fitness club pass. This is an apt. complex, and those things have to be secondary to the upkeep and care of the actual units. Anyway, my experience is definitely different from yours!
