Murder suspects, Rats, Excessive Noise, Ketchup on cars

I have lived at Windsor for a little over 1 year. There are several nice things about the community, but before moving in, make sure those things are most important to you and that you can deal with the faults. The nice features include:
-beautiful pool
-free cooking classes
-very friendly leasing staff, though inexperienced compared to others
-many social events. The party in the summer is fun - live music, catered bbq, unlimited margaritas & beer
These are the things you should know before moving in:
-very noisy in the evenings and weekends. One night, a drunk resident thought it would be funny to burn the rubber of his tires in the parking garage. So besides making a lot of noise, he filled the parking garage with smoke from the burning rubber. If you think that's as funny as he did, you should move here because you will find several antics like this going on, especially during the weekend.
-Someone else thought it would be funny to step on a ketchup bottle and squirt all the ketchup onto the cars in the parking garage. If you don't mind ketchup on your car, then this might be the place for you.
-someone stole my friend's tire from his Land Rover in the parking garage this summer. Maybe it was someone's idea of a joke, but if you have a Land Rover and are thinking about moving to this complex, be sure to get the locks for the tire.
- A non-resident tailed my neighbor into the complex, which is very easy to do. He then blocked her car while she trying to park and cursed at her and threatened to beat her up in the parking garage. Imagine your girlfriend, sister, or mom coming to visit you - are you ok with them having to deal with this'
- There is a problem with rats. But maybe you like reminders of your childhood pet mouse...
- Walls are paper thin. I can hear my neighbors' alarm clocks in the morning and their phones ringing.
- Beware of your neighbors - they might be running illegal operations or be wanted for MURDER! Read the article from the AJC at the bottom of this post. Also, the news named and showed pictures of the complex when this happened. About the illegal operation: A twentysomething male was caught storing stolen luxury cars in the parking garage and selling the parts. I never saw any news articles about this, so judge for yourself, but it makes me question the type background checks the apartment does.
- Residents do not pick up after their pets. You will find dog feces all over the complex. Personally, I've stepped in it at least 3 times. And don't leave your door open on a beautiful spring day - you might get an unannouced visitor who will leave you a nice surprise on your carpet.
Before making your decision to move in, ask management if you can attend the next social events. When you get to the event, try to ask the resident what problems they've run into. That's how I heard about several of the issues this complex had. Unfortunately, it was after I had already moved in. I'm moving out when my lease expires in a few months because this is all too much to deal with, especially the murder suspect resident. I'll probably move to Post Garden or The Reserve. I don't think either of these complexes has the cooking class, but I have two co-workers who left Windsor and moved to these complexes, and they are much happier - lower rent, safer complexes, and lots of attractive singles around. Also, check out the ratings on apartmentreviews.com . Their postings are an average, so one disgruntled resident's opinion will not have a huge impact.

Suspect arrested in slaying of restaurant owner
By DAVID SIMPSON
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer
Law enforcement authorities raided a northeast Atlanta apartment Wednesday and arrested the third and final suspect in the slaying of DeKalb County restaurant owner Guy Luck.
Rejon Taylor, 19, was seized about 1:30 a.m. in the apartment on Lenox Park Boulevard, said a statement from the U.S. Marshals Service.
"Taylor was found hiding in the refrigerator with a large kitchen knife," the statement said.
Taylor and two other men are accused of commandeering Luck's van in Buckhead to rob him. He was driven to Collegedale, Tenn., just over the state line, and shot to death Aug. 6, police say.
Luck owned Violette, a French restaurant on Clairmont Road.
In September, Hamilton County, Tenn., Sheriff John Cupp said murder and robbery warrants had been issued for Taylor; 20-year-old Sir Jack Matthews and 18-year-old Joey Marshall.
Matthews has been in the DeKalb jail since Aug. 28 on unrelated charges of statutory rape and child molestation. Marshall was jailed in Fulton County on burglary and theft charges Sept. 24, according to booking records.
Matthews listed an address near Clarkston. Marshall and Taylor listed addresses in southwest DeKalb.
Taylor was apprehended by about five sheriff's officers and five federal marshals who forced their way into the Atlanta apartment Wednesday, said Mikki Jones, a spokeswoman for the DeKalb sheriff's office.
Another person in the apartment, 20-year-old Summer Jeter, was arrested for making false statements to police.
