I'm now seriously reconsidering moving here. I'm a young professional, looking for a relatively safe yet affordable place with a decent location. Will I be disappointed, or is this another typical big-city apartment complex with typical big-city problems' Be honest, I still have time to change! And if you're breaking a lease and/or not renewing, where are you going'

Read the comments. This place has gone down hill since my partner and I left 3 years ago. Even then it was on the down swing. Breakins to cars and crime in the complex is on the rise.

Nope, I didn't. It turned out to be a poor property overall. Apart from the poor location (and I say that because the left turn off of Peachtree can take 10 minutes to make in daytime traffic), they have some of the worst customer service I've seen in a long time. They are disorganized, don't follow up on things, and can be very rude. And when you factor in the increasing crime in the area, I'd recommend a more professional and convenient place to live.

Office Management and staff are main problem:Specialize in customer NO SERVICE!, rude, arrogant, consistently lie...provide wrong information or no information at all. (Ex.such as where is the mailbox?, where to drop rent?, They consistently give really bad or wrong info or no info at all. Security deposit info is consistently misquoted. Time frames or due dates and other extremely important information is 90% consistently mis-quoted or intentionally left out. When tenants are at work or gone for long periods, maintenance men and staff alike, ramble through tenants apartments and personal property. Some of the maintenance men even sit even smoke dope inside tenant's apartments while the tenants are at work. It is not unusual at all for the maintenance and staff at 1660 Peachtree Apartment Homes to wrongfully enter into a tenant's apartment while the tenant's away (of course, without tenant's prior approval or knowledge). Violations in tenant's basic civil rights and protection against unreasonable, unwarranted searches without reasonable suspisicion or probable cause is business as usual for maintenance, office manager and staff alike. Maintenance is extremely slow and may not fix or repair at all (depending on how they feel). Overall, the staff is nasty as hell and it's obvious the tenants mean absolutely nothing. They should all be fired never to work for any customer service industry ever again. The new staff should be required without a doubt to treat tenants with ongoing consistent customer appreciation activities (pass out breakfast, coffee, pastry or fruit before work on special occassions, have little short Holiday gatherings (lasting 1-2 hrs only), have art exhibits from some of the students next door or something more creative than just treating tenants like crap! WE PAY OVERPAY AS IT IS ALREADY JUST TO BE TREATED LIKE CRAP.
The apartment manager is especially a nasty ----- indeed! Esp.once they get you locked in a lease. All hell breaks loose then.

I am about to move out, and I'm really glad to be leaving. I moved off-campus for the last 3 years of college, and when I move out, I am relocating out-of-state for grad school. Even if I was staying local for grad school, I would move out of 1660 though.
I'm really fed up with the staff. All of the reviews are true regarding the terrible service of the staff. They are very rude and condescending, particularly the somewhat new property manager and the main maintenance guy. They both act wholly inconvenienced that you are asking them to do something, when it really is your right as a resident and name on a lease. I've been waiting for over 3 weeks now for someone in the office to come to my apartment and ok it for moving out. I'm really worried that they are going to try to charge me with extra expenses that are completely unnecessary. I steam cleaned my carpets so they look just like when I walked in the place too. The property manager, after trying to assess damages and charge me for a year's worth of carpeting, is now changing her story and telling me that she's not the one who assesses the carpet damage, that it's the carpet company that does that. She also told me that sometimes stains re-appear???? WHAT????? Then she said "how long as it been since you've cleaned the carpet?" - "3 weeks" - "oh, well, we'll keep an eye out on it then." Are you kidding me? That's absolutely absurd. Stains come out of the carpet, and then they're gone. Over half of the stains were from dirt and grease from the maintenance staff too!
It took me over 4 months to get my laundry washer replaced because it kept working and then not working, leaving the tub full of water and not finishing the wash cycle, just random (meaning that the motherboard controlling the washer was busted and needed to be replaced). I finally had to call them crying that I was sick of not knowing whether or not my washer would actually wash my clothes each time I had to do laundry! That's not how you treat your residents.
The rent price jumps up a lot every year too. And if your rent is late ONCE in 3 YEARS they still make you pay the extra 10% late fee with the rent, and I realized that I still had the filled out check and envelope just sitting in my apartment early in the morning that it is officially deemed "late". They still made me pay, even though I had the check and could just hand it to them. And just because it's 10% doesn't mean it's chump change for that late fee, because 10% of $1000 is at least $100 , which is NOT fair for a resident who is nice and not bothering anyone and always paying on time.
Speaking of bothering others, the property manager doesn't even handle problems with other residents. I had awful loud noises above and below me with people playing super loud rap music (I could FEEL and HEAR the entire bassline through the floor - it vibrated with the beat) because all of the walls are paper thin. When I called the front office to talk to the residents, she just told me to call the police and complain to them. Police officers don't care about apartment complex noise complaints in the middle of the morning or afternoon! That's seriously the job of the property to keep their residents respectable to one another, and she completely passes it off like it's our own responsibility to make sure something gets done. RUDE!
I really wouldn't move in here for many reasons:
1. it's way too expensive
2. the overall property owners are JERKS
3. the property staff are rude and condescending and unattentive
4. getting in and out of the complex is awful with traffic - terrible accessibility
5. the staff does enter without consent - definitely happened to me
6. the main maintenance guy is really rude - a couple others are nice though (credit where it is due)
7. it has a parking garage, but it's $200 to park there and there is no security, and cars are always stolen or broken into, and the front security gate works less than half the time, and the rest of the time, anyone can sketchily sneak in right after you
8. the walls are paper thin and the staff doesn't deal with other residents, so you're on your own getting someone else to be quiet
9. the property manager is a _________, which is not a good word :-)
