Descending into the abyss.....

If it wasn?t located in a convenient location, nobody would live here. (And based upon the number of empty units, it is getting that way.) It wasn?t always like this. I know, because I worked there from the construction phase in 1997 until 2000, when I went back to school. The office staff was professional and fair, maintenance requests were addressed usually on the same day as reported, and we had daily safety checks (lighting, gates, etc). Packages were stored in a LOCKED room, and the office notified you when a package arrived. When you moved in, you actually met the staff & were given a move-in packet (owners manuals, location info, KEYS THAT WORK, etc).
When I graduated school in 2001, I moved back to 450. Very stressful to see the changes. Employees who were burnt out and didn?t care. Imcompetent maintenance. Ownership changed, and so did the level of caring.
Current issues:
-The gates stay open at night, and no repair has been done
-Packages are in no-mans land. Anyone can walk off the street and grab a package (I know because I tried it...nobody in the office paid attention). And you may/may not get a call to let you know you have a package
-The street lighting goes on & off all night. A VERY SIMPLE REPAIR!!! All it takes is a phone call to GA Power to have the photocells replaced. Situation has been ongoing for a year now.
-The Fulton health officials recently closed the pool. This is the 1st time since 1997 that I am aware of that this has happened, and Fulton county regularly makes check-ups of the pool.
-Maintenance is horrible and revolving. I couldn?t tell you who they are, because no-one sees them. Over the last 2 years the attitude has been either to ignore the maintenance request or leave the materials for you to do it yourself
-Clientele is (de)volving.....If you are a hood-rat, this is the place for you. Every night is pimped-out SUVs, loud music, motorcycles, and parties in driveways. I aint? hatin, I just want some peace when I come home from work.
-The homeless/crack-heads have always been a problem at 450, but safety is definetely an issue now. The street lights are out, the gate is open, empty apartments are left open, and homeless guys sleep along the fence and in the landscaping. And you pay top rent dollar for this.....
I don?t want to appear as a disgruntled ex-employee. I volunteerly left to go to school, and I volunteerly moved back in upon graduation. BUT I know what the place used to be (and should be), and what it has became. The location of 450 is great(10-15 minute walks to Centennial/Piedmont park, close to MARTA, close to the interstate), and the garage is nice. Those are the only 2 positives. Everything else is a definite negative. I can?t wait to close on my house....
BTW, the same owners of 450 are the owners of the Waterford (1 block north on Piedmont). Be wary....
