lived here almost three years and moved with no problems.

months later, without any notice and having received no letters of any kind, my husband was called AT WORK by a collection agency saying we owed for cleaning and a remote, yet i know for certain that there was only one remote given to me and the people who worked there at the time changed the lease to reflect this.

Needless to say, it is the law that they send a letter listing any owed items within thirty days.

They did not do this and just sent it straight to a collection agency without giving us any opportunity to pay, which we certainly would have.

Clearly this is a habit and they need to get it together.

I am a leasing agent with another company. Most of the time that someone is sent to collections after move out is because the resident did not leave a fowarding address for any balances due. It is the resident's responsibility to leave this information or the request for any final balance due will be sent back to leasing office if cannot be forwarded. Thus eventually being sent to collections.

I think it's funny that you say it's a habit because it happened to you. Do you SEE a lot of complaints saying it happened to you? And if you received collections MONTHS later, then that would normally mean that they tried to contact you one way or another. Probably an unknown caller that you didn't answer and they say it's a "business matter to call back" and you don't. So maybe try taking some blame for credit for yourself and not blaming everyone else. GROW UP! You were probably more to blame than anyone

actually, rude people, they had my forwarding address because i own a home in another state that they had on the original lease and still live today. They never sent ONE thing to us after the lease ended and the original lease showed we only had one garage remote, yet they tried to charge us for a second one, which is what this whole collection was about. They screwed up and didn't bother contacting us. They sure had out number to try to get us to sign another lease a few weeks before we moved out, yet they never contacted us about this incorrect debt. I pay my bills and am not someone trying to get out of a debt. They are -------- and all my neighbors had problems with them giving incorrect info and causing leasing problems as well, like applying rent to other people's accounts on a regular basis (which also happened to me more than once where I had an eviction notice put on my door only for them to go - oops we put it on the wrong account sorry). I got all my other forwarding mail and we asked them to forward to our permanent address. So before you go making rude comments (which I'm assuming you are employed here) you should check yourself. I Word of mouth is something you should PROTECT in business and this office has screwed up a lot.
