My first apartment ever was at 710 Peachtree. I didn't really know anything about deposits or what to look for in the apartment, how the leasing agents were supposed to go through procedures before you moved in, etc. I thought I was getting a deal ($570) on a one bedroom apartment and only having to pay a one time fee of $65 to park in the crappy parking garage. How convenient of the leasing agent (who has long been fired by the way) to mention to me that the fee for parking is a MONTHLY fee. There was no mention of having to pay $50 for an access card to get into the building, and no mention of the monthly parking fee. My boyfriend lived with me and had to park his car at a friend's house the entire time we lived there because we didn't know it was $65 for each car each month. I thought it was supposed to be "affordable intown living"! There was water flooding from somewhere into the parking garage all the time, and I've seen rats around the garbage area.
By the way stuff from the ceiling (paint or concrete) of the parking garage constantly fell onto my windshield causing it to crack in three places.
My neighbors were constantly arguing LOUDLY. I felt like I was in their living room with them because I could hear everything.
I also got hit on by "visitors" to other apartments in the elevators... like I was in a club or something. That makes me feel REALLY comfortable.
There is no parking if you want to have relatives or friends come over. They have to pay to park wherever there is a spot.
The water from the faucet in the bathroom sink came out brown and then ran clear... who wants to brush their teeth with that happening' Hot water constantly came from the cold water knob, so I often had to brush my teeth with hot water!
Maintenace never came to fix what I called about FOUR times. The "receptionist" kept telling me they would be up that day or the next but they never once came to fix my bedroom door that did not shut. How nice!
The garbage chute was always clogged up, therefore people would leave disgusting smelly trash outside the door.
You walk outside to let your dog go to the bathroom and there are bums asking for money.
The solution to making an apartment look new to new tenants is put a 15th layer of paint over the previous ones, and it chips.
The only good thing I have to say about these apartments is I never saw roaches. And MARTA is across the street.

I've been having the brown water problem as well. They said it happens, when the apartment has been sitting awhile. I've been in my apartment for a month now, and it hasn't gone away. They are moving me to another apartment. If the problem persists, I'm out of this hell hole. |
