The Bad: I have been there for a month. Dog piss and fecal matter in the elevators 6 different times already! The concierge will argue bizarre political issues and carry on race conversations with his buddies off the street. I, being in the Army Reserves, will wear my uniform in after drill weekends only to be confronted by Radical hate speech, and ignorant arguments from the assembled peanut gallery of residence and employees alike about our president. Homeless people invade the area, throwing themselves on their knees demanding money. I have not seen the cockroach issue yet, but I can say that when I moved in, the place was a mess. Dust everywhere! The cabinets were filthy, pubic hair on my bathroom counter top and toilet was a great surprise, and I don t know how hair strands got painted over on my wall... It looked like someone shaved in there just before I moved in. The parking garage is $75 tacked onto the rent, and only one of the three elevators in the complex goes to the area. When you drive in the parking area you need to watch out for the concrete posts, as there appears to be no actual passage, or right of way for vehicles to drive on, so you must weave through parked cars. Random people hang out in front of the building with shifty eyes, and shady business after 11:00PM. There is no pool. No balconies in the rooms. The kitchens are VERY small, and will not even provide space for a microwave. The walls have been painted over several times, and are about an extra inch thick with paint. You cannot hang pictures without destroying the walls, as the walls are made from plaster and concrete, and not dry-wall. There is no central A/C or heat, and therefore the utilities bill is high. The jacks for the TV/cable and internet are located on odd sides of the walls. If you look in the cabinets you will find odd holes that lead to unknown parts of the central building structure. Pipes are running through the apartments, as the building is very old, and new fire codes have been passed since the building s conception fine.
The Good: No balcony, but great view from my side. The move in special is worth it, as they discount it almost by half for the first 2 months. The location is very central, and is very close to MARTA. You re right in between midtown and downtown, and the bar/club/nightlife of the city. If you are ---/------- (I am not), this is a good area, as midtown is very diverse. If you are a student (I am not), the location is great for Georgia Tech and Georgia State. Peachtree Street is very cool, and the feeling of living right off of a historic street is neat. There are several major gyms located in the area, and Piedmont Park is a great morning running place located a couple of blocks down. There is a pretty cool 3rd floor sun-bathing and grille area. The move-in special is worth it though. The whole process of finding a place that s central, relatively inexpensive, and a quick and speedy move in process is good too.
