The leasing agent initially didn t know what to make of us. At first she only saw me, a feminine middle-aged woman. She introduced herself extending her hand. I shook it. A moment later she was surprised by my butch-appearing wife who had wandered over to a window to see the pool. She didn t introduce herself to my wife and did not extend her hand. She just nervously said, Oh, hello, and continued directing her questions to me. We told her we were looking for a one-bedroom apartment sometime next month. She gave us an inquiry form to fill out in their lounge area, away from her office. As we filled it out, we realized the TV in the lounge area was set to Fox News--not usually a good sign for people like us. We brought the form we had filled out back to the leasing agent and without even looking at it, she announced that she just realized she had no one-bedroom apartments available. As we asked her other questions about the property, she crumpled up the form we d filled out in her hands. We left feeling really awful. This kind of discrimination against g.a.y.s and l.e.s.b.i.a.n.s is completely legal in Georgia and there is no federal statute to protect us from it either. But it is still wrong. I tried to get a place for my dad here last month and they didn't have any one bedrooms left until a few months out so you probably weren't discriminated against as much as you'd like to believe. Did you see when the next one will be available? As for the Fox News crack, you just did the same thing to any Fox News watcher. News flash but everyone that watches that channel doesn't have it out for same sex couples nor does it mean the staff even votes the way the FNC viewers lean. It could come down from upper management to keep it on FNC or it could be because you live in a majority Republican state and they're appeasing the masses. Sadly when you want to see Red you see Red and based on your own generalizations I'm left to second guess what may or may not be true.

Well you I disagree, there is a such thing call Fair Housing Laws. Look it up and make a case.

It makes absolute sense and management is obviously worried to have recruited you to comment. As for Fair Housing Laws, they do not apply to the GLBT community.

Ummmm...the tv being on Fox News? You are being biased yourself. If she had nothing to show you, then she had nothing to show you. Sounds like you just want to whine about something. As for being a g.a.y. couple, there are a bunch of g.a.y. couples who live here including me and my partner. If the staff member had something against g.a.y.s. then we would have had a similar experience, but we have not. I just think you need to recheck yourself and what you wrote. You make no sense whatsoever.
